Ryobi RY80300 & R&80030A Pressure Washer
Strengths: Does the job for power washing your house including 2nd storey with extension. Excellent equipment
Weaknesses: Pump is not maintenance free as advertised. Pump not able to maintain pressure. Marketed as a commercial unit but it does not perform as good.
Summary: 2006-10-18 09:02:47 I bought the RY80030 from Home Depot only to find out that the valve in the pump was bad. I went back to get it exchanged. They have an upgraded unit RY80030A. It has several neat features. The hose, the nozzles and wand are all redesigned to be more user orientated.
I had the chance of using both the RY80030 & RY80030A ( both selling at the same price ). There good and bad points of both units.
If you like the velcro to tie up the hose then go get the RY80030A. The RY80030 has more universal nozzles and you can use any after market nozzles unlike the RY80030A. You can use two of the Dewalt extension wands to reach higher places without climbing the roof/ladder.
The RY80030A has the issue of the pump. It can't mantain the pressure. If you are using it continously, either you will get a white smoke from the carburettor or you get no pressure. You will need to wait for a minute for the pressure to climb back up again.
The issue I have is the misleading information advertised information of a maintenance free pump. You have to service the pump after 100 hrs of usage and it will cost you about $50/hr to get that done.
Overall, for light, home use this is an ideal power washer.
After using it for 2 months, now water leaks between wand and extension. It would have been better getting my power wash done by a professional. Spend a little more and get a better machine than this !
