Strengths: best external DVD drive

Summary: 2006-08-29 10:04:20 my first drive and it is just perfect. Hooked it up in less than 10 minutes. Burned a DVD less than 7 minutes and printed a lightscribe label less than 10 minutes. It comes with the standard Nero 6.0 version. Highly recommended.

Strengths: well priced, brand name, Nero software
Weaknesses: none really
Summary: The drive is not too heavy. Very portable. It burns great and very fast. I haven't tried dual layer discs, but it worked fine with the regular dvd discs. The lightscribe feature is awesome (and again, excellent price for a drive with so many features). Works perfectly. It only took me about 15 minutes to burn a label.

Strengths: Price, Easy of installation and use, Lightscribe, Nero
Weaknesses: None so far
Summary: This is probably one of the best external DVD burners available in the market. It also comes with Nero 6 software. It is well built, looks decent and just costs as much as a internal DVD burner. Installation was a breeze with Windows XP. I have not tried burning dual layer or lightscribe DVDs, but the burning of regular DVDs and CDs worked without a problem. There aren't any true weaknesses with this burner.The large power adapter can be a problem for some. Also, the position of the eject switch is directly under the tray.

Strengths: fast and reliable

Summary: This samsung DVD writer is one of the best external DVD writer out there. It is fast and reliable for the price. The shape is not that attractive to customers but the quality is very good.

Strengths: Easy Installation
Weaknesses: none yet
Summary: So far, it is a good external DVD burner, working fine on several medium I tried,althogh I haven't tried a Lightscribe disc or a dual-layer disc yet. But I've seen other Lightscribe discs burned, and it works out pretty well. I also should mention the installation is quite easy,and Nero software coming with it works out well.

Summary: Ordering was easy, web site informative, shipping fast, price very good, product (Samsung DVD+RW Writer) excellent! Product extremely easy to hook up worked with little effort, burns fast, good copies! Very happy!! This was not my first purchase through Newegg and will not be my last....great site.

 Samsung SE-S164L External Double Dual Layer DVD±RW Writer Strengths: Lightscribe. On/Off Switch. Bundled w/ Nero
Weaknesses: The design of the case could be better.
Summary: This is one of the cheapest and reliable external DVD writer with lightscribe. The external case has On/Off switch and it's convenient. I has used this on Windows XP, and Mac OS X, and linux. No problem at all.

Strengths: Double layer writing capable and technology LIGHTSCRIBE
Weaknesses: None yet, but poor service from UPS the lost the the first I ordered.
Summary: I have been using this toy for about 2 weeks daily for back up all my files into DVD. It works just fine, not a noisy device and pretty fast, space saver design, records 4.5GB in about 10mins.

Summary: This samsung external dvd burner works great and is easy to install. I have already burned about five disks and there were no coasters.Comes with Nero Software.Great choice for those on a budget.
