Strengths: It has a variable speed processor, which gives it 24 hours of time as an MP3 player, it has a huge screen, docs to go w/ a download, WiFi, and many other great features
Weaknesses: I know the processor is variable speed for low power, but I would like to have seen a slightly higher number before the processor. The screen digitizer could be more durable, like the Tungsten series.
Summary: 2005-02-20 05:57:45 It is a great PDA, and probably the only one I will own for a while. The only palm that rivals it is the T3, but it has bad battery life, and no WiFi. Like Palm handhelds, it comes with many good installed programs, culminating with the Clie Organizer and Documents to Go. Many people have claimed that the cover is flimsy, but I would trust it to support the handheld, and keep it from getting scratched. It comes with a multi-connector that removes the need for a cradle. The infra red is too weak for Remote Control applications, but works just fine for beaming apps. It is a very good music and movie player, as Sony has developed it for these applications. I use it for web browsing, watching movies, and organization. It, in my opinion, is the perfect PDA.
By the way, im very dissapointed with PCWorld's review of the TH-55. Their main problems are Clie Organizer, which they claim is something Sony added that messes up the system. What they did not seem to know is that the TH-55 can run the standard palm launcher, or even the more robust Clie launcher, simply by hitting a few things in the menu. As for Docs to Go, they claimed it did not have this, but after it was released, Docs to Go was available as a download for free for Clie users for a long time. Its quite sad to see the perfect pda brought down by a bad review like this, I hope they will be more careful in the future.

Strengths: Large high resolution screen. WIFI, Thin and stylish.
Weaknesses: No Bluethooth in North America, Memory stick instead of SD
Summary: 2004-10-02 15:13:38 I have had the TH55 for a little more than two weeks. I can say that I am extremely impressed with it. As all of you already know it is an excellent gagged. Thanks to the way the processor works the battery lasts for a long time. Normaly I do not have to recharge it for 3-4 days.
To me this is the one. There are some miner problems that I find, but I can live with them. It is not easy to take out the stylus when you have the screen protector open. There is no Bluetooth in the North American market. Also I tried to get a memory stick Bluetooth but there were discontinued already and only in UK.
The problem I have is that I am a real estate agent and when I have an appointment or a call to make I have to have those activities linked to a person in the address book. Sadly I cannot do this with the Clie organizer. But at least it synchronizes with my custom made software almost perfectly. I just have to add the contact name to the appointment on my laptop afterwards. I was thinking about Beyond Contacts, but I like Clie PIM very much.
Wifi works well. Sometimes it freezes but with a soft reboot it is OK. I had a slight problem to have it connected with my US Robotics 125MB wireless router because I had WEP setting on place. This is the thing that if somebody passes by your house and have a laptop with a wifi card so he cannot connect to your network.
So far I am happy with it. Originally I was looking for a smart phone like P900-P910 but my software synchronizes only with Palm OS. I do not like Treo 600. It seems too limited to me and an old-fashioned one. Hope the new Treo 650 will be better.

Strengths: Integrated wireless LAN, large (480 x 320 dots) screen, built-in camera, too many other features to list!
Weaknesses: Only 32MB RAM available, no cradle, expensive memory sticks
Summary: I bought this TH55 two weeks ago and have been ve3y happy with it so far. I had been using an iPaq 3850 and was content with it, but thought I'd give a PDA with the Palm OS a try. The screen on this PDA is beautiful and it is pretty easy & quick navigating through the programs. The built-in camera is nice for photos to email or just to have on your PDA, but they are not the quality to print out a 5x7 or 8x10 photo. I think I'll keep this one until I find a good deal on the next generation of PDAs.

Strengths: Fast, great graphics, great features
Weaknesses: Easily Scratched shell and cover.
Summary: This is the absolute best pda i have ever owned, but it is too easily damaged, and not durable at all. It has great features, such as the graphics, ram, speed, sound, and many other aspects.

Strengths: Clie organizer is great, Mobile Manager makes Wi-Fi setup easy, Camera is good for daylight pictures
Buttons are postioned well
Great Battery life
Weaknesses: Needs cradle, Good Cover, Video recording application
Summary: 2004-04-19 10:24:56 This is third sony clie I have purchased in the last 2 years. The is by far the most sleek and best model I have used. Daytime pictures (0.3MP)are good, but the bad news is that it does not have a video recorder. The mobile manager has taken the problem of configuring the Wi-Fi. Just answer few questions and you are connected. The voice recorder is good and the volume is good with audio player. The battery life is amazing...in 7 days I charged it just once (using Wi-Fi and camera). I have read about TH55's processor being slow..but have not seen it slow down yet. The handwriting software "Decuma" is fun to use. For those interested in programming, programs written using MobileVB work on it. Among things to be provided by Sony is a good cover and cradle for sync.

Strengths: Easy to use, great battery life, Nice Screen, Wireless works greats...pick ups my wireless rigth away...
Weaknesses: No cradle included...
Summary: Great PDA...I used to have a UX50...TH55 is much easier to use and the screen is huger than the UX50...the wireless works perfect...but the screen works on up and down...wish it was viewable right to left...
And it has no cradle...I guess to save some cost...but you can get UC55...I recommed you to get one...it's much easier to "hotsync" with the cradle...
The battery life is excellent...with normal use it goes for a lot of days...
For case don't get the PEGA-CA23...I thought it was leater but it was nlyon...felt and looked so cheap...
Get the PEGA-CA80...it large enough to cover the whole PDA and it feels and looks much cooler than the CA23...
The Clie personal information manager is so much fun...it has stickers to decor your schedules and pictures...
The most feature I love is the memo pad feature...just write on the screen...no typing words...just write it on the screen just like your using a notepad...
Great Price for a Great PDA...Go Buy IT...

Summary: I've owned a TH55 for almost four months and have been extremely satisfied. I wonder if PC World's reviewer ever got past the Clie's (to him) bewildering menu selections to see what the handheld really is. He said the camera is a 1.2 megapixel---it's a .3. He complained about Doc-to-Go not being bundled---it's available free when you register the TH55 with Sony. Great PDA---poor review.

Strengths: Long battery life,
Slender and has a high quality feel to it,
Nice Bright Screen,
Scroll from the back makes it feel natural,
Camera,
Voice Recorder,
Wi-Fi,
Infrared,
Easy access keyboard,
Hold button
Weaknesses: Only 32 MB internal memory,
Only 123 MHz speed,
Summary: This is my first PDA so I have no other experience to compare the Clie TH-55 with. After getting acquainted with this Clie, I have concluded that it's an excellent tool for scheduling and keeping little reminder notes or memos, and reading ebooks, and also, listening to music (you'd need a memory stick for this). However, if your ebook is really big, it would take a very, very long time to find something if you plan to use the "find" feature.
It froze on me once after I tried to hotsync, but right after I did a soft reset it functioned normally again.
There's a memory stick slot for more space if the 32 MB internal memory is too small for all your ebooks. On the applications screen there's a shortcut feature that you can use. If the shortcut preference is not used, you see round, grey circles at the bottom of the applications list.
I use medical references via the index feature and it works great. For those who have large hands, you might find the stylus to be too small. I bought another stylus pen, so I don't have that problem.
The Clie was made in Japan. It has a heavy feel to it. It doesn't feel like plastic. It feels like high quality material.
The power button, voice recorder button, camera capture button, camera lens button, and memory stick slot are on the left side.
There are 4 buttons at the bottom. The first button gets you to the address book, the second button gets you to the free notes, the third button brings you to the memo pad and if you keep pressing it you go from memo pad to viewer to reference to applications and back, and the fourth button brings a list of searches that you can perform.
I like the fact that there's a protective cover to protect the screen from, for instance, a carrying case that might be loaded with memory sticks and when closed might put some pressure onto the screen.
I'd say the only things I don't like about it are the small internal memory space (32 MB) and slow speed (123 MHz), but if you're just using it for reading and scheduling and storing addresses, it doesn't feel slow. It feels slow when I'm searching from a large database.
The scroll bar at the back of the pda feels really natural. After scrolling with the TH-55 using the forefinger and then going back to a scroll bar requiring use of the thumb, I could really feel the difference, and I like the scroll bar in the back better.
That about winds it up for my experience of using the Clie TH-55.

Summary: I own a related Clie product, and I like the unusual interface. For people that don't like this interface, they can switch back to the standard Palm interface. I wonder how the reviewer would have rated the Clie PEG-TH55 it he had known this.

Strengths: easy to use
Weaknesses: none that I can think of
Summary: I have really enjoyed my Clie handheld. It has been easy to use and very helpful. I have liked the palm applications better than the clie applications, but is probably due to the fact that I had a palm before this.
