Strengths: Bright screen, works as advertised, bluetooth phone support
Weaknesses: No video/audio playback support, map information sometimes inaccurate, flash memory features lacking
Summary: I originally bought this for the bluetooth phone feature since I am rarely - if ever - in need of navigation but after using the product for a couple of days the POI has become increasingly useful. The battery is decent and the only complaint I would have is the inclusion of the flash memory. The set doesn't support mp3/video playback from SD cards and map updates seem to be nonexistent. I would recommend this for casual drivers who aren't in need of speedy and quick navigation sets.

Strengths: easy to use, fast re-routing, friendly voice, very good direction instructions
Weaknesses: start up slow, takes a little time to pick up gps signal, only 4-5 hours battery life.
Summary: Because of its ease of use, this pioneer becomes by wife's best friend when she drives around places. Although sometimes it goes by nearest route instead of easiest route, we can always get to our destination in the SF/Bay Area. We also brought it to L.A. and with great experience.

Strengths: Works well right out of the box. Easy to learn. Has everything you need. Excellent for the price.
Weaknesses: None
Summary: The device picks up satellites quickly both indoors and out. Bright screen in daylight. Calculates routes quickly and accurately. If you deviate from the route it tries to get you back on it. If you go for a distance it plots another accurate course. The device is thin and light. It can be carried in a shirt pocket if necessary. It also is bluetooth compatible so you can have hands free calling. I am very happy with this product.

2 Star ReviewPioneer AVICS1 Portable Smart GPS Navigation with 3.5-inch Touch Panel Display
Strengths: Easy to keep this product in a pocket/small bag. Good brightness to see well. Convenience to operate it.
Weaknesses: a little bit slow to response to user's selection with a stylus. Not so many in point of interest.
Summary: 2006-12-31 08:14:06 Basically, I am satisfied by this product. Especially, brightness, color used in a map, convenient operation, and stylish design are very satisfied. as well as small size.

But, the response speed of user's selection is not so fast, compared with my expectation. and the lists of point of interest are not so many, also compared with my expectation.

I used this GPS in Huston, but it was so bad. too long delay or no response.

I don't want to suggest this product.

1 Star ReviewAVIC-S1 - one of the worst navigation units I've seen
Strengths: Blue Tooth hands free phone compatibility Slim design Nice display
Weaknesses: Indadequate amount of points of interest and no update planned Too many differing methods of searching which yield different results
Summary: Car Toys stores have this unit ranging in price from $459 -$599 - Lame! Additionally, dealers will tell you there are 4 million points of interest... BS!!! There are only 1.5 million!@ Buyer Beware on this one! This pile doesn't even compare with Garmins C-330... Which has 4.5 million points of interest and is $359 at Best Buy. Hands free bluetooth was nice but not worth it!!!!

Strengths: Easy to operate.
Weaknesses: Sometimes it takes a little while to find a signal, but works just fine when it does. Also, battery should hold a longer charge.
Summary: At first i thought why buy something i don't really need. But truthfully, i think its better then going on the computer for directions. All you have to do is put in your destination, and in less then a minute you will have your directions with detailed map and voice command which tells you ahead of time when an exit or turn is coming up, then again when you are there. I like this feature because it makes sure that you won't miss your exit or turn. I've only been using it for a few days, but so far i'm very satisfied with it. M. Ocasio

Strengths: lots of poi, loud easy to understand voice, big easy to see screen, low price, works right out of box.
Weaknesses: a little confusing to figure out at first. entering address can be a little difficult. a few to many screens to navigate through.
Summary: overall a great buy. works very well, and has not got me lost yet. a little confusing at first to enter addresses, but once i got the hang of it,seems to be pretty easy. does not have a feature to delete saved itinerary, which i called pioneer about and they basically said thats life.(so now i just enter the addresses in my address book and delete them as i go) I did a few weeks of research on all types of gps and this is by far the best one for the price.(possibly one of the better ones overall)
