Strengths: *Great quality video
*excellent price
*includes FM antenna
*Does what it promises
Weaknesses: *Short cable
*Software is tricky to install
*not the prettiest box
Summary: This is not the best USB TV tuner on the market, but its a great price whenever there is a rebate. Mine was $15 AR. Its perfect for dorm rooms where there is cable but no TV. Plus, it acts like a DVR.

good value for money
Strengths: picture quality is good
Weaknesses: hard to setup, included software gives lot of errors, need external sound card to support audio in
Summary: hardware setup is not very smooth. included software has good features but is not very intutive to use. also gave lot of errors while creating svcd of captured video. need external sound card to support audio in. but once you set it up video capture quality is pretty good. if you can keep your expectations in line with the price you pay for this, its a good value for money specially after rebate.

Strengths: USB connection is nice.
Weaknesses: Not really.
Summary: Good stuff. Here is a portable solution that performs well even with a weak cable signal. Unlike a lot of negative reviews I read, my setup was very simple. No additional files needed to be downloaded from the internet. I haven't used it's "pseudo TIVO" function, but I presume it will be acceptable, though I didn't buy this device for recording. Also something that you hardly find mentioned anywhere is that this is also has a radio tuner that gets EXCELLENT reception even without the antenna attached. Overall, I wish that the audio would come though the USB and not require a seperate audio cable. I also wish this device would be powered by USB and not require an additional power adapter. The remote is also a little weak in signal strength and design, as well as the unit is a little slow to respond. It you are a major channel flipper you will notice this and it will become an annoyance. I was able to purchase this for $19 after rebate, and for a price like this, it was well worth it. For its regularly listed price, I would hold off because it's not very competitive pricing for the subpar quality.

Strengths: USB interface is flexible to both desktop and laptop, the software is very useful for video format conversion and TV recording, remore control is easy and convenient to use
Weaknesses: Picture quality seems not very good (maybe I need to download updated driver and patch from www. kworldcomputer.com)
Summary: It is a cost effictive solution for TV recording and picture capture. It is good enough for family use. It can work on both NTSC and PAL, as a result watching TV on laptop during international travel is possible.

Strengths: Low price with remote control, better pictures.
Weaknesses: Poor instruction, some guides are confused.
Summary: 2005-08-24 21:20:13 This product is the best ratio between performance and price. It can satisfy my requires, I often transfer some video, and it works well. I also like its remote control, I can control the machine from distance, and not sit near the computer. But the company website is not good, it is not easy to find what you need. Good product need good support.

Strengths: nice software , picture quality is good
Weaknesses: none
Summary: Now that it's up and running, I am pretty pleased. The picture appears just slightly less sharp than what I got on previously owned TV tuner cards, which I returned due to driver or application instability. However, this machine appears to eliminate a lot of the video noise that comes over our cable.
Before trying to install or use, be sure to visit the KWORLD website and download the latest software and drivers. Select "Analog TV." That will allow you to scroll downward and select the product. Then request download of the software "patch." It comes as a compressed file. Unzip it and execute the setup application. Then things start to cook!

Strengths: Powerful software. Nice remote. Picture looks OK (not sure how it compares with previously owned TV tuners that failed).
Weaknesses: Software provided on installation disk was either incomplete or old. Wasted a lot of my time.

Some ads for this box state that it will pipe CD quality audio over the USB 2.0 connection. I could not get it to do that, nor was this mentioned in their documentation. Use the supplied audio cable (not shielded... bad if you're a ham radio enthusiast like me) to connect the unit's Audio Out to the Line In on your soundcard.
Since I finally got this squared away at 2 AM (and get up at 5:30), I need to do more playing around to check out the other features

Strengths: Low price, high quality video capture and remote control included
Weaknesses: none so far
Summary: This product is, by far, the best value video capture ($30 after rebates and capable of 720x480 resolution @30fps). A minor problem is that the driver and software included in the package do not make the equipment function properly. You will need to down load the updated version from the manufacturer website. To reach its highest quality, A PC with Pentium4 2.0G, 256M RAM or above is a requirement.

Strengths: Low price, high quality capture
Weaknesses: Poor design
Summary: 2004-12-26 21:21:52 KWorld's X-Pert does a very good job capturing video from the built-in tuner and the video-in port. Picture and sound stay in sync unlike some other capture cards I've tried. Tuning the TV is fast for USB as some other devices have an annoying delay when changing channels. The bundled software is sufficient and works well. I use the X-Pert with a P4/3Ghz/1GB RAM/W2K machine.
The remote control is nice but I tend to pick it up upside down which seems to be the logical and intuitive way to hold it. Personally I think they designed it upside down! The cord on the power adapter is too short to reach a nearby outlet and had to be used with an extension cord. On the other extreme, the cord which connects the X-Pert to the PC's sound card is extremely long and the excess had to be gathered and tied. If KWorld had reversed the length of these two cords they would've been more practical.
The hard drive light on my PC blinks rapidly even when the X-Pert is powered off. Disabling the startup software stops the blinking light but then the device can't be powered on. If you unplug the USB cable from the PC (such as when using a front USB port) an annoying "snowy" sound is heard through the speakers. The fix: unplug the power cable to the X-Pert.
Despite its obvious design flaws and quirks the X-Pert does a very good job capturing and playing back video.

Strengths: cheap
Weaknesses: I had a problem with video from the beginning. However according to the service rep. in USA, they do not have the return instruction from the headquarter in Taiwan yet.
Summary: After a couple of phone calls, long waits, and updating the drivers, the problem did not go away. I am going to take the loss, and buy another product from a reputable company.

Strengths: Picture quality as promised, Tv set-up is easy, remote control, cheap
Weaknesses: separated audio cable, audio output set-up confused, intuitive manual
Summary: Overall, it's a great product regarding its cost. I got it for $9.99 after $60 rebate. The TV tuner is easy to setup, All the features and the functions are easy to use(not for computer rookies). Great picture quality as promised(720*560), movie capture function are great. However, it's very confuse to setup audio output since my laptop don't have line-in jack. have to connext the audio cable to the speakers directly when you watching TV or connect the cable to the microphone jack for recording. That's means you have to switch around all the times. Otherwise no problem. I am pretty happy.

Strengths: Good Deals, Pretty Easy to Use, Decent picture
Weaknesses: A Little Hard to Install, Not the best quality picture
Summary: I had read reviews before installing this, so I knew that I had to be careful. The best way to install this is as follows:
1. Insert CD to see if USB 2.0 drivers are installed. If not, it will pop up a box. If they are, it will just go to the main screen. Do not do anything if you get to the main screen.
2. Download updated driver online. Plug in the unit in the USB port. Install this driver.
3. Install PVR software from CD.
4. Download PVR patch online and install.
This should get you working. Once you have it up, it's really quite simple to use. That being said, the quality is not perfect, but for what it is, it's not so bad. And keep an eye out because you can often find great deals on this unit for under $30 after rebates!

Strengths: GREAT price (after rebate). Easy hook-up.
Weaknesses: Next to no product support on Kworld website-included instructions are poorly translated into english. Wasn't mentioned anywhere that you can't use RCA cable for sound.
Summary: Easy to set up-be sure to check the website for product updates to avoid problems! They include an s-video to RCA adapter for video input, but you can't plug the RCA cord into the sound input-you need a different cord, which isn't included. I had one laying around so it wasn't an issue. I was watching TV on my monitor within minutes!
Capturing video from VHS is turning out to be more of a challenge-still struggling with fine tuning the settings for good copies to DVD, but I'm a newbie at this sort of thing so it might be my fault, not the PVR.
Seems to be a good product!

Strengths: Price, simplicity.
Weaknesses: Support, performance.
Summary: 2005-06-08 08:12:43 Let's be clear; This ain't no TIVO.
However, that said, it might be considered a 'poor man's Tivo'.
The performance is system specific.
IE, it might go right in the toilet and drag your comp down with it.
However if you have a decent CPU (2Ghz & up) and a healthy supply of RAM
and no other system instabilities you might be quite happy with your results.
It was lousy on the junky little celeron I put it on.
But acted fine on my 2.8 P4.
If you get it with any kind of rebate or sale and you have a solid system you might be quite happy with your results.

Strengths: Low Price(after rebate),external USB2.0 interface, good picture quality in window mode,
Weaknesses: not very clear in fullscreen mode, require a high performance PC, travel charger(DC input) broke in the first day I got it. I had to buy a new one from radioshack(21 bucks)
Summary: Remote control doesn't work very well(I already downloaded the latest driver, but it still has problem).
In a word, I would spent more money to buy a more relible tv tuner.
