Strengths: Easy setup, reasonable signal, low profile
Weaknesses: Quite wide.
Summary: I'm using the TV5 for OTA HDTV in Boston, MA. Generally performs as advertised. Very sensitive to direction. Ironically, I'm picking up RI signals for major networks rather than local Boston signals. Likely related to geography. Unit functions exactly as advertised, got a great price at B&H photo with quick shipping. Recommended. Can't give a fair comparison with other antennae, because I haven't tried them.

Strengths: GREAT reception,
Weaknesses: sometimes you have to adjust direction of elements for certain channels
Summary: This is a great antenna! I did have a amplified antenna before and it simply did not work well. with the TERK TV5 I get amazing signal strength on all the channels i got before plus 1 more channel that I couldn't get before. I think the secret is not only the fact that it has 40db of gain but it is a low noise amplifier.

Strengths: FINALLY, something that does what it advertises, right out of the box
Weaknesses: the square antenna band takes a bit more lateral "real estate", but for the good reception I'm getting, its worth it
Summary: Someone gave me an old style antennae with a booster attachment and it worked OK, but it required radical adjustment for certain channels, then during a surgical recovery period, I paid for cable for a couple of months, but when I had the cable turned off, I couldn't get the old boosted antennae to restore the usual network (ABC, CBS, NBC, PAX, PBS, UPN AND WB{local}) reception.
So did some research booster antennas and found this item advertised at a local big screen TV retailer. As they were highly recognized for being hi-quality and hi-tech, I did some more research on the TERK TV5 and while there were very few, (apparently this a reasonably new product), all the reviews I found were positive, so I ordered one oneline (saved $10 over the local retailer).
I installed the antennae in a matter of minutes (very simple design) and plugged it in.
Turned the TV on and VOILA! instant reception in the above channels and a few others too.
I am VERY pleased and satisfied, requires little or no adjustment (for my area) between channels.

First it must be noted that in all fairness, this ...
Strengths: Design is relatively sleek & compact; provides clear reception for some channels; reasonably priced.
Weaknesses: Both antenna assembly and gain knob need indicators to provide a definite reference point, allowing for more precise and consistent adjustment.
Summary: First it must be noted that in all fairness, this unit is being evaluated on its own merits; it may be that its performance is far better than a basic rabbit-ears antenna. It's being used on a new TV in a new location, so I can't compare performance to a previous antenna.
It seems well-constructed and designed, EXCEPT for the lack of visual or tactile indicators on the antenna assembly and controls. When trying to find optimum settings to improve a mediocre signal, one ends up twiddling and twirling the antenna and gain control in a random trial-and-error manner. A better feedback mechanism would prevent literally going in circles.
And the gain knob is particularly user-unfriendly; I found it difficult to tell whether the rubberized knob was turning at all, or whether it was turning in a full circle. All in all, I find that I do have to fuss with the antenna more than I'd hoped.
I think it would be worth a modest cost increase to include a display of some type, perhaps as simple as the "stereo" indicators that FM tuners have, or the old "magic eye" in tube radios that supposedly monitored signal strength and helped the user lock in an optimum signal.

Strengths: Strong HD signals from all local stations
Weaknesses: None
Summary: When I purchased the HDTVi model some HD stations came out choppy. Having read a lot of positive reviews on Terk TV5, I decided to give it a try. I was really surprised by the performance of this antenna. I live on a wooded area where Direct TV cannot get a line of sight! Our COX cable carries only 2 local HD stations. Now I can watch CBS,NBC,ABC,FOX,UPN,PBS and WB in high def, no problems with the reception. I'm approximately 15 to 20 miles from the transmitting towers. You can never go wrong with this antenna if you own a HDTV.

Strengths: Great amplification - 40 dB
Low profile - 5.5" tall
Weaknesses: For an indoor antenna - NONE.
Summary: This is a great indoor antenna. I live in a neighborhood where there is no available cable TV service and I don't qualify to receive local networks with DirecTV (go figure). I went through 3 or 4 other antennas before I was recommended this one. This antenna at least makes all of the networks watchable, while one outdoor antenna that I tried wouldn't even pick up a signal for CBS. Unlike traditional rabbit ears, it's innovative design makes it easy to place in a hidden area or allows it to be displayed openly. It has a dial to control amplification and even has a button to completely bypass strengthening the signal. This is a great product that I highly recommend to anybody in a suburban area looking to pickup off-air signals.

Strengths: Easy set-up, gets good reception
Weaknesses: none
Summary: This was easy to set up and does a much better job than the $15 rabbit ears I had been using - I get halfway decent reception of channels I never got before, and much clearer reception of channels I could get but not that well. I'm glad I got it.

Good Antenna
Strengths: Works as described. Amplified. Product height doesn't take up as much space vertically.
Weaknesses: Product width takes up some space due to the squarish antenna.
Summary: Quick and easy install. I was able to pull in 9 HD channels with the Terk TV5 vs. 6 with a normal rabbit ear antenna. I live 10 miles from a major city (Washington DC).
After a couple days I returned the antenna because I didn't like how the square shaped antennas took up some much space (also mentioned in another review here).
Product is good if you have the space for it.

Strengths: Price 39-59$ (mine 47$), Assembly, Performance
Weaknesses: NONE
Summary: If you are reading this review, then pat yourself on the back for doing your homework. More than likely you are in the market for an Off-Air HD antenna. So lets cut to the chase, if you find a better performing product for the price, then by all means get it.
I live deep in backwoods-town USA A.K.A Raleigh, NC. so we are long on Tobacco and short on good sense. (skuse da brown chewing tobacco dripping on the review) Anyways, I have a Direct-TV HD receiver (no-HD service yet) and I wanted to see if I could pick up OFF-air local HD programming, and with this little Terk TV5, I got more than I could have imagined. I know I get at lease 10 local HD channels all without even thinking about repositioning the antenna after I initially set it.. you better scoop one up before they start selling it as a local HD antenna cause you know what that will mean……

Strengths: Because the signal is amplified, the image on the TV is pretty clear.
Weaknesses: You still have to adjust the position of antenna.
Summary: I bought this antenna for my new PHILIPS television. This antenna is easy to set up(less than 1 min) and the signal is very good(ten channels). Compare with my neighbor’s indoor antenna, Terk TV5 let me able to watch two more channels. If you want to buy an indoor antenna,I would like to suggest you buy a "amplify" one.

Strengths: great amplified antennae
Weaknesses: it's not superman
Summary: i bought this terk antennae to pick up local HDTV broadcasts. my signal in my apartment is not very good with just rabbit ears, and this antennae allows me to pick up all the HD broadcasts in NYC. The only hitch is, since my singal still sucks, there are dropouts here & there. the only way to really solve this is to get a larger antennae & mount it in my window. for the price & size, this antennae does a nice job.
