 I have purchased two models of the Philips Vertica ... Strengths: The only strength is the compact vertical design.
Weaknesses: The player locks up repeatedly during movie play.
Summary: I have purchased two models of the Philips Vertical DVD players, the 580M (purchased from Target) and 590MT (purchased from BestBuy), and neither has operated without flaw. This unit, both units, cause a a great deal of aggravation in that the 590MT repeatedly locks up during play of a movie, resuming several seconds in progress, causing one to rewind to the point lock-up to view what was missed; the 580M just plain-old locks up and won't play. If you're considering buying this unit, either unit, save yourself a headache and cancel that notion immediately.
