Philips 42PF7321D/37
Strengths: Good Picture, Easy access I/O's on left side panel and has Auto pitchure sizing feature
Weaknesses: It weights too much, the remote does not respond well, poor Audio and the Documentation and Web Info did not seem correct.
Summary: Purchased from Office Depot at $1099.. great price. It was a job getting hung on the wall.. the mounting kit, when installed on the holes provided did not match the rail (short by 2"), so i had to remove the stand mounting screws and use those holes only to find out they did not line up with the mounting bracket, so I had to drill new holes in the mounting bracket.
Its a heavy unit, plan on having two people to move it that have some mussel.
The remote works not so well. Even when you aim it at the TV is seems not to respond and sometimes the response is slow.
I am annoyed that when i change the volume it does not show me the volume level. I can only see it if I go into the set up menu and go down 4 pages.
Audio factory setting is awful. I found a way to correct the adjustment but even then its still well below what I would expect for a TV of this size and price. Wanted to use external speakers but no connection available and no RCA audio outputs (only fiberoptic).
Software is upgradable using a memory stick (cool) by plugging into the easy access USB port on the left side. The problem is the documentation both in the manual and on the web site is incorrect. I could never get the auto upload to work nor the manual approach using their instructions. I figured it out after a couple of trials and errors.
The Auto-Set up feature for all the channels took almost 30 minutes.. i though that was a bit long.. not a big deal as you only do this a couple of times during the life of the TV.
I have been running it for 3 days now... so far i like it... its just the annoyance of the remote and audio that I have to live with. I started looking at surround sound system to hopfully eliminate the audio issue.
At the right price... hey its a great set.

Your 42PF7321D
Strengths: Nice Look. Clear Picture. Cost Effective
Weaknesses: Worst Audio. 15:9 Aspect Ratio which is kind of odd.
Summary: This is a good TV. I am so far happy with it. It has 15:9 Aspect Ration so if you are watching 16:9 movie then it will cut from top and bottom some videos. if it is with subtitles, it will be cut. Menus are not user friendly.
Voice is the worst I have ever found. Money wise its ok. I got it for $1100. We don't watch TV that much but its ok to have this. TV takes few seconds to start once you press power on button of remote.
Over all, its ok TV. If you are willing to spend more, you should avoid this.

Strengths: Display clarity and color rendition equal to or better than many TVs costing considerably more money. Easy and quick setup. Adequate number of inputs.
Weaknesses: Audio quality doesn't knock you off your feet but is satisfactory. For best result, use a surround sound setup. Remote is just average.
Summary: I am duly impressed by this TV's picture quality and color rendition. It does an excellent job right out of the box. Setup was a breeze. The manual is a bit lacking in detail but covers all the basic requirements to get everything functioning properly. I looked at many sets and could find nothing that even began to approach the quality of this set's presentation for the money. You can spend a lot more money but I don't feel you will get a substantial improvement over this very fine and reasonably priced TV. This set should definitely be on your short list.

Strengths: Great Picture, great value for the price, built in features like pixle plus make any normal picture look great, HD is outstanding
Weaknesses: The remote is somewhat non-responsiv, the user must aim it right at the IR port, speakers are built on to the tv, the speakers that come with it are sub par, only one HDMI port, energy hog (400 watts)
Summary: Great TV overall, have had no problems with the TV its self, it is just disappointing that Philips with all there experience with t.v.'s would allow a few simple things like a crappy remote, and speakers built on to the TV. to degrade the over all quality of such a great product. Still though it is hard to find a 42 inch HDTV out on the market for this price with this great a picture.

Strengths: Great picture, plenty of inputs for the typical home theater setup, easy menu navigation and setup - top notch considering the price.
Weaknesses: Speakers leave something to be desired, TV doesn't always respond to remote.
Summary: The picture quality of this TV is one of the best in its class. Component video from DVD, S-Video from TIVO, and HDMI from cable box - happy with quality all around. I don't use the speakers at all, as all of my audio goes through the receiver, but I tried them just to know and they are not very good. Albeit, if they're all you have, they should suffice. The side access panel with S-Video, USB-port, and RCA connectors is very convenient for connecting a computer, a camera, and even the iPod. Connected our video iPod and it recognized all of the folders and any mp3 files - it will not play the proprietary files from Apple, but it played mp3 files right away. Very happy with this purchase.

Strengths: Fantastic picture, especially the HD. Very affordable.
Weaknesses: Remote stinks, but if you have a universal remote, there's no need to use the Philips remote. TV does get very warm.
Summary: I highly recommend this TV. I have a lot of family and friends with plasmas, and they all comment on my TV and how they wish they had bought this television instead.

don't waste your money
Strengths: good hd picture and standard picture is better than a regular tv
Weaknesses: weak speakers, overall construction, gets hot and support from Philips
Summary: I am now on my second set, the first set was replaced under the manufacturer warranty after having the set less than one year. My current set is being repaired and is having the identical problems as the first set. These repairs are being covered by the extended warranty. The problem is after a few months both sets started to get a buzzing sound coming from the speakers. Turning on the mute did not quiet the sound. The repair man replaced all of the circuit boards and power supply in the first set only to have Philips ultimately replace the set. Now, I'm having the same problem with the set it was replaced with and I've had it less than one year as well. Trying to get support from Philips was difficult at best. If you are going to buy this set, plan on buying the extended warranty. I will never buy another Philips plasma. When it gets to the point of my current set needing to be replaced, which it will, I will argue the point to the extended warranty people to replace the set with something other than a Philips based on the track record of two tv's doing the same thing.

Strengths: HDTV - Price! - image quality
Weaknesses: Remote - Audio
Summary: 2007-02-26 14:58:26 I have this TV for 2 months now, and i'm quite satisfied with this purchase. No other have the same price for a HD plasma.
The TV built in sound is Terrible and you can NEVER count on, but as I always use a Home theather system thats not a big problem.
The Remote control also sucks! and there is a lot of missing functions like return to last viewed channel.
the PIP only works for the HDMI input.
The image quality is realy good even to non HD signals
