Strengths: Set-up was a breeze with the automated set-up and included mic. Loads of inputs, HD Up Conversion, not just switching.
Weaknesses: Lack of backlight on the remote. Hard to see in the dark.
Summary: This is a great receiver with tons of features and functionality. The auto set-up configures the room speakers for optimum sound levels. Start to finish set-up for existing speaker placement was less than an hour including removing previous Kenwood receiver. Multi-sound modes and night time listening mode are welcome additions.

I'm currently using it for a 5.1 speaker configuration and am actively looking for new speakers. However the auto configuration takes the lack of rear channels, and configures sound placement accordingly. Also the dual zone capability allows me to listen to stereo on the patio while the kids watch a movie in the house.

At the $1,000 price threshold this is an excellent cost - performance benefit. I highly recommend this receiver.

Strengths: HDMI, Video Upconversion, i-Link, Dolby TrueHD, and more!
Weaknesses: Cheap remote - get a Harmony Universal! Unit could look a little more pro.
Summary: I bought this to replace a Pioneer VSX-47tx which cost twice as much and did not do half as much!

-HDMI switching and upconversion

-Upconverted sources look better!

-i-Link for SACD and DVD-Audio

-Dolby TrueHD via HDMI

-Awesome automatic audio calibration!

In addition, soundtracks and music sound cleaner and more detailed on this receiver than on the 47TX it replaced!

Strengths: CLEAN SOUND / POWER / DESIGN
Weaknesses: NON BACKLIT REMOTE / LEARNING CURVE
Summary: OWNED YAMAHA AND DENON (UPSCALE) - A GOOD TO EXCELLENT RECEIVER WITH A FEW MINOR DRAWBACKS - AS NOTICED BEFORE - NON BACKLIT REMOTE / NOT DEDICATED A/B SPEAKER PLUGS (HAVE TO SHARE WITH REAR CENTER)

GOOODS: - LOTS OF OPTIONS - GOOD POWER - VERY GOOD SOUND - GOOD DESIGN (AFTER LEARNING CURVE) - GOOD REMOTE (NON BACKLIT).

EXCELLENT PRICE FOR A VERY GOOD EQUIPMENT.
