Strengths: Set-up was a breeze with the automated set-up and included mic. Loads of inputs, HD Up Conversion, not just switching.
Weaknesses: Lack of backlight on the remote. Hard to see in the dark.
Summary: This is a great receiver with tons of features and functionality. The auto set-up configures the room speakers for optimum sound levels. Start to finish set-up for existing speaker placement was less than an hour including removing previous Kenwood receiver. Multi-sound modes and night time listening mode are welcome additions. I'm currently using it for a 5.1 speaker configuration and am actively looking for new speakers. However the auto configuration takes the lack of rear channels, and configures sound placement accordingly. Also the dual zone capability allows me to listen to stereo on the patio while the kids watch a movie in the house. At the $1,000 price threshold this is an excellent cost - performance benefit. I highly recommend this receiver.
