Strengths: Great picture, can't beat the price for this quality picture
Weaknesses: remote is the worst I've ever seen for being slow and unresponsive
Summary: I purchased this TV for Christmas for use in my bedroom. The picture quality is really great; especially for the price. The biggest drawback is the amount of manual adjustments you must do to GET this quality picture. Everything must be adjusted - bright, contrast, shart, tint, color, etc. If you are willing to work with it, your efforts will be rewarded with a high quality image. The other major headache is the remote (I've read other reports of this being a problem). Remote is terribly unresponsive and/or slow. when entering a station number, it takes several seconds to actually GO to the channel, if it responds at all. It also has the problem of being overly sensitive to the touch at other times. Often I enter, say, channel 34 and by simply touching the 3, I get a series of three 3's. Bottom line, though, this tv has a great picture when all is said and done and the sound is very good. After some of the ajusting I mentioned, I now have a bright, hi contrast, sharp, great color, image. The sharp picture amazes me in light of the price. TV is lightweight and is a wonderful size. Corner to corner meas. of the screen is of course 27in and screen width is 24 inches so you get a nice large picture. If you don't get frustrated by the lack of a manual and all the adjustments - you'll love this tv. However, when I first took it out of the box, I was ready to pack it right back up when I saw the , poor color picture of my set. But, as stated, it's worth the effort. The Olevia web site recommends getting a universay remote!! But, with all of this

Strengths: Excellent picture quality for the price. A really good value
Weaknesses: Worst remote I have ever seen on an electronic item
Summary: At first, I was admittedly reluctant to purchase this set because I had never heard of the brand. However, I couldn't resist, and didn't think I could beat, the price of $595 (no tax or delivery charges) at Beach Camera on-line. They are an alternate buying choice here on Amazon's Website. That said, and to be truthful, this is not one of those sets you can just plug in, power on and expect to look good. It takes some diligent tweaking. However, once you get it right, you are rewarded with a really great picture and overall well-performing TV that to my mind, and eye, can at times give the "Big Boys" (Sony, Panasonic, etc.) a run for their money. I will concede that, as stated in previous reviews, the remote is just bare-bones basic at best. Multi-Brand Remote codes are virtually non-existant for this model/brand. Even the codes the company says will work (RCA, LG, etc.) mostly do not. At least not in my experience. I purchased the Monster 600(?) HDMI wire ($99.99 from RadioShack) to connect the TV to the Scientific-Atlantic 8300HD cable box provided by Time Warner Cable, NYC. The addition of just that one wire made a world of difference in picture quality because, frankly, out of the box, the picture was worse than bad..After using the wire, the picture was GREAT! In short, if your budget allows for it, buy the HDMI wire. It's well worth the expense. I still had to have the Cable Guy come to my house, though, because my local HD stations were coming in pixelated (Due to a low signal output from the cable box. Not a fault of the TV.) After the guy replaced all the connectors on the wiring in my apartment, which boosted the signal to the box, everything fell into place and has been working fine ever since. Now the TV is operating at peak performance. Also, I have found that you don't necessarily have to invest in a professional LCD TV Calibration DVD. Just go to one of the on-line tech websites (CNET, PCWORLD, etc.) and watch one of their How-To videos to learn some basic "Do-It-Yourself" tips on making the necessary adjustments. While none of these on-line videos will leave you with as perfect a picture as you can get from following a purchased DVD, any one of them will certainly give you a better picture than most sets of this type do, untouched, right out of the box. The resulting picture will be one that is really very good for normal everyday viewing enjoyment. Again, it takes work. BUT, if you're willing/able to invest the time and diligence to do it, you will end up with a picture that's well worth the effort and looks like it cost alot more to get than it actually did!

Strengths: Great picture, attractive style, excellent price.
Weaknesses: Unresponsive remote, only one of each input.
Summary: This is my first HDTV, and I've been very impressed so far. I jumped on the deal at OnSale.com to get this TV for $450 with no tax + free shipping, and it's well worth the money. The picture quality is great -- I just switched the video settings from "showroom" to "home" and it seems fine so far. I'm not a big video buff, so your mileage may vary. I'll probably run a calibration DVD on it eventually, but right now I'm satisfied with its default settings. Like others have said, the remote is not the greatest, but it's usable. I was also slightly disappointed to find out that it only has one component input, (apparently the VGA input can also accept component signals) but it's a minor gripe. I'd definitely recommend this TV as an entry-level HDTV. Standard def TV, digital TV, upscaled DVDs, and Xbox 360 games all look great on it, and few HDTVs can match the low price.

Strengths: very sharp picture
very wide screen. your eyes think they are watching a 32".
this is important if you watch loads of tv
Weaknesses: subtle colors.
Summary: We bought both the Olevia 527V and a 37" Toshiba (37HL67).
While the Toshiba looks brighter, the Olevia looks sharper.
Thus, you cannot actually say the Toshiba is better, it is a matter of taste.
Also, the time it takes to change channels is not a problem. Considering I have a DirectDVR, the Olevia is faster than a Samsung HD at flipping channels.
The remote is not as bad as people say, at least for my taste. The drawback is that you cannot turn off the tv or use the volume with the directv remote.
This is a very minor issue considering the image quality and the price.

Strengths: Price, screen size, picture quality
Weaknesses: Slow remote
Summary: Great TV for the money. I am very pleased with my purchase. I would but an Olevia TV again. The picture is clear and the TV has lots of input ports. The remote and power button are rather slow but that's only a small drawback for an otherwise great television.

Strengths: Inexpensive, just as good (or maybe better) than high priced name brands.
Weaknesses: Just like other reviews i've read, the remote isn't the best and adjusting the controls take a while.
Summary: I've been searching for a brand new lcd tv for my bedroom. I didn't want to spend too much but didn't want something too cheap that would only last less than a year and break down. I finally discovered the olevia series televisions. I was first drawn to the price and after doing some research, people were quite happy with their tvs. I tried purchasing this television from 3 websites. They offered the lowest prices but were all backordered. I finally found mwave.com which offered this tv for under $500 SHIPPED plus they werent BACKORDERED. i ordered this tv on 4/16 and recieved it today 4/18. i love it! it looks even better up close than in the pictures.

Strengths: Picture quality, ease of use, firmware upgrades and very competitive price
Weaknesses: None found
Summary: Evaluated many 27 inch HD LCD TVs and determined that the Olevia 527V offered a great price-performance package. The picture is sharp with subtle colors and good contrast. The on screen feature controls are intuitive and easy to use. The ability to update the firmware via a USB port provides "future Safety" for the system. I urge anyone seeking a TV with the features of the Olevia 527V to give this set serious consideration.

Olevia 27" LCD TV
Strengths: Good picture
Weaknesses: Remote unprogrammable - no easy read manual
Summary: Just purchased this tv and am returning it. Remote can not be programmed with our cable remote. Apparently, tv is too new and cable company doesn't have the codes. In this day and age ridiculous to use 2 remotes to turn on/off and adjust volume.

Strengths: Excellent price for an HDTV. Appears to be of good quality. One year warranty and made in the USA.
Weaknesses: Haven't found any yet. Not even the buzz sound that others have mentioned.
Summary: This is a fantastic product for the money. Under $500 for an HDTV is a dream come true. I especially like the fact that it has a one year warranty and as an added bonus it is made in the good ol' USA.

Nice TV
Strengths: Good picture, attractive appearance, decent sound.
Weaknesses: Terrible menus, manual and a no duplicate inputs. Unprogrammable remote.
Summary: Set-up wasn't fun or easy. It's off-putting. We had a TIVO, a Panasonic DVD player and a cable box to connect. No mention was made of how to do this set-up, which makes no sense in this day of the DVR. Did get it working, but annoying. Also, can't program the TV remote. Olevia doesn't give adequate program numbers to program other remote devices, like theTIVO. So, can't turn on TV using the TIVO remote, or adjust the sound with the TIVO remote, etc. "Multi-Brand Remote codes are virtually non-existant for this model/brand. Even the codes the company says will work (RCA, LG, etc.) mostly do not."

Strengths: Bright, easy setup, Black border
Weaknesses: None so far
Summary: I bought the TV few hours ago. Took me about 15 minutes to open the box, put it on table, power it on, hook it to my antenna (not for HDTV, but works), auto-scanned the channels, added a channel manually for my DVD and video player and turned on a movie.
Picture needed a little adjustment with colors, but that depends on taste. Overall I think it was a nice buy, I still have to try it as a monitor but looking at the picture quality right now it seems it should work just fine.
Problem - Maybe sound - but I am not using the TV for the sound setup, remote is not that great and menu could have been better.

Strengths: Nice picture, great price
Weaknesses: Remote
Summary: Just wanted to echo what the other reviews said. This is a great TV for the price. I got it out of the box, hooked up an antenna, and was watching HDTV immediately. It was beautiful! On the down side, the remote stinks and the blue light on the front is like a beacon in the dark. But, so far, I highly recommend this TV, it is worth it.

Strengths: Good picture, easy to program.
Weaknesses: Audio in some channels is frequently interrupted.
Summary: This is a good bedroom TV. I don\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'t yet have high definition connected, so can\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'t rate that feature. The price is a definite advantage over similar TVs, and I would recommend it to others without reservation.

Strengths: Ultra-low price for 27" 1600:1 contrast LCD with ATSC/QAM digital HDTV set and 1366 x 768 PC monitor combo
Weaknesses: As a digital TV set, the audio sometimes pops during fades to black when one thing transitions to another
Summary: At my place of work we use the Olevia 527V strictly as a computer monitor. In the workplace the wide viewing angle and good brightness/contrast help it to function well displaying items to a group in a medium sized room. At my workplace this monitor remains on day & night -- it is never turned off. It has stayed on for 3 months, and it is still running fine.
So, I bought one ($200 out-of-pocket before rebate using store coupons, credits and reward points discount) for my home to use as a PC monitor because I desired large easy to read text for my aging eyes. But before connecting it to my PC, I connected some cheap $10 rabbit ears and ran the channel search and found 18 free over-the-air digital TV channels in my city. 18 digital channels with no analog ghosting and no snowy video. I have altered the preset factory settings by decreasing the color saturation and increasing sharpness slightly. Sometimes the video is ultra-stunning, and sometimes it appears overly sharpened and is a bit unnatural looking due to my changes. The set is light and easy to carry.
The obvious weakness is the digital audio. Sometimes there are pops when a program ends or pauses for commercial. Music, applause, the sound of a waterfall -- busy audio can sound unnatural perhaps due to compression. Rapid busy movement is sometimes not perfectly smooth. In general, digital appears sharper and noise-free, while analog has less detail but seems overall smoother.
