Featuring accurate, drift-free PLL synthesized tuning, the intelligent HS-IIIi tuner offers more accurate interference detection to ensure purer FM sound with minimal noise. When a strong undesired signal is detected, the computer-controlled tuner automatically switches from the standard wide bandwidth mode to a narrow bandwidth to eliminate interference and noise from adjacent stations without degrading the signal to noise ratio. In the presence of an undesired signal whose level is stronger than the desired signal, the level of interference can be reduced by 30db by using the NARROW IF bandwidth. This means the desired signal is 30 times more resistant to interference than in the WIDE IF bandwidth mode. Moreover, the signal-to-noise ratio stays low while the undesired signal's level is 70dB or less. Normally it is degraded when the undesired signal level is a mere 40dB.
