Strengths: The sound is exceptional, ease of installation, good documentation.
Weaknesses: LCD panel is difficult to read at the direct exposure to the sunlight.
Summary: Awersome stereo with good output and crisp sound: beats native stereo I had in my toyota. Very convenient in operation, remote is useful feature. Read all CD formats I have tried. You probably need to know the native color scheme of the wiring to match during installation. In summary, very good purchase I made.

Strengths: Plays regular cds along with mp3 cds. Saves original cds of theft threat and space.
Weaknesses: Has a brief pause betwwen songs in mp3 playback. (not a plus while listening to a pink floyd album)
Summary: I strongly recommend this stereo overall, I even plan on buying one for my other car. The remote is there for safety reasons instead of reaching over while driving and this thing keeps you entertained for long road trips or short distances.

Strengths: Does everything well. Great value.
Weaknesses: Miss a few seconds when powering off and back on.
Summary: As is so often the case with excellent products, the strength of this one is its lack of flaws. Really, there is hardly anything that I would change if I could. The sound is great (as far as my tin ear can tell), the controls are logical, and I haven't had any problems. I made a point of testing it with commercial CD's as well as CD-R's and CD-RW's that I burned on my computer, and they all worked flawlessly.

I sometimes listen to music, but most often to recorded speech on MP3 files. When I resume listening after stopping the car, It seems like I have missed a few seconds. I have to back up a bit to get enough context to understand what is being said. Some other players automatically replay a few seconds in this situation, which is a feature I like. Still, it's no trouble to manually back up a little bit.

Overall, I am very satisfied and I recommend the KD-G300 highly.

Strengths: This is a great CD/MP3 player for the money. It is well designed and easy to use. It also looks great.
Weaknesses: As with just about any aftermarket stereo, the screen is hard to see in really bright light (though it's better than most). The JVC website is not as helpful for info or parts as it could be.
Summary: Overall, I would say that this CD/MP3 player is a great deal for the price. We intended only to get a simple CD player, but went for the MP3 playback and rotary dial because we were able to get such a good price from PriceGrabber. It worked flawlessly with CDs I've created on the computer with DirectCD (unlike other reviewers).

It is really nice having the rotary dial instead of just buttons because it is easy and quick to adjust (more than just volume) while driving. The buttons are intelligently designed and placed (though like many aftermarket stereos, the preset buttons are small).

The remote must be pointing in the general direction of the unit (so mounting it on the steering wheel doesn't work), but the player was well worth the cost even if we haven't figured out what to use the remote for.

It had good instructions and was easy enough to install with basic knowledge of electronics (which can be found on the internet).

The sound quality at 200w is an improvement over the GM factory unit, and the developed equalizer helps make sure any music sounds great.

Although I gave it 5 stars, I would point out that the rating is for this unit up to retail price. There are obviously much better units out there for much higher prices. This one is great for the average person who enjoys music in the car and wouldn't mind the convenience and features it offers.

If installing yourself, you might look into finding some way to support the back of the unit because the included optional back support isn't helpful if there isn't a screw right behind it in your car. I've seen a flexible metal band with holes in it typically recommended to extend the life, cut down on potential skipping on really bad surfaces, and make it more difficult to rip out of your car if being stolen.

Strengths: The sound is very clear, It has lots of power, It is beautiful
Weaknesses: It's not easy for me to read LCD in shiny days.
Summary: I bought this MP3 Player last week. So far it has been really good. It had a good manual to help me installing it on my car and do the connections, It was my first time installing a stereo on my car and the manual was quite useful. I did it myself and I avoided to spend another 40-50$ to have someone else to do it for me. It was really easy.

The sound quality is very good. I tried MP3 CDs and the sound was very good. The radio tuner is also better than the original one on my car (Toyota Corolla 97)

I like the design. it's very beautiful. specially at nights the red light of the buttons is very cute.

In the day time it's a little difficult for me to read the LCD (Because of the light reflex). But it's not a big deal.

Concerning the price I spent on it (124$) it's really good. It's not the best. But for this price it's a perfect MP3 player.

Summary: 2004-09-02 15:36:21 Display looks really cool at night. colors match my dash board and guages. Plays all kinds of cd's and does not skip when you hit bumps and stuff.

Strengths: MP3 playback, great sound
Weaknesses: None found
Summary: 2004-07-27 15:16:47 I just bought the KD-G300 to replace the standard tape player in a 2001 Subaru Impreza. Even with the factory speakers, the unit sounds fantastic; even the radio sounds much clearer than the previous unit (perhaps thanks to the EQ options).

MP3 playback is a great feature for a car CD player as it saves having to carry all your CDs in your car (you can burn around 10 CDs on a single CD-R). The MP3 playback in this unit works great with CD-R and CD-RW discs, although it can't read UDF discs (e.g. DirectCD). It doesn't play WMA/AAC/etc. The controls seem intuitive, with simple next/previous folder and next/previous track for MP3 CDs.

It has a remote control, although I can't see how this would be useful in a car.

Strengths: Lots of power\ looks good\ makes you feel warm and fuzzy all over
Weaknesses: the scrolling function is cool but it moves too slow\ very shiney\ doesn't make eggs or coffee
Summary: In all seriousness...So far this has been a good purchase. I'm very happy with it but I kinda wish I purchased it on-line. You can get good deals on line unlike what you will find in Best Buy or Circuit City.

Strengths: Easy to use, good reception, nice MP3 support and decent sound for the price.
Weaknesses: Panel & display colors don't quite fit the dashboard.
Summary: Good purchase for the price, especially if your dashboard is gray and has a blue-red lighting.

The unit wasn't easy to mount in my Honda CR-V and the bracing didn't quite fit. I am still thinking how to attach the pocket below the player to close a hole in the dashboard :)
