Strengths: Multiple power sources. Multiple Band features. Also available in a shortwave version.
Weaknesses: No volume control for siren which is quite loud, a good thing until you set it off by accident. Literature mentions fine-tuning knob which has been discontinued on current version.
Summary: This is a perfect addition to any emergency/survival equipment. With multiple power sources, you never have to worry about blackouts or dead batteries. There are two versions, the 400 which has weather, weather alerts and TV frequencies and the 350 which has international shortwave bands.

Strengths: Great value - provides emergency functions and reasonable cost with extra features like cell phone charger.
Weaknesses: Plastic Crank Handle less desireable than metal but clearly is a manufacturer's trade-off to keep to cost down.
Summary: This unit clearly resolves my concerns about being out primitive camping and not being aware of fast moving, severe weather systems. Have been caught out in the open before and the feeling of vulnerability when you don't know what's coming is awful especially when you're out with little kids like me.

I also like the fact that it's somewhat kid/spill proof with the water resistance feature.

Strengths: That this radio has the NOAA/TV-UHF audio which most other emergency radios do not have. Easy to use crank. Can be powered from 4 different sources. Built in cell phone charger. Adapter included.
Weaknesses: Crank handle made out of plastic istead of metal.
Summary: 2006-12-21 18:20:02 I'm very excited about using this emergency radio. It looks like it will fill my needs. Like the adapter being included. Also appreciate the channels from 2 thru 13, and having the cell phone charge is especially good. I purchased this emergency radio because it offered me the most for my money. And especially like the donation of $.70 to the American Red Cross.
