Strengths: Portable, The largest capacity small drive I could find. It is so mall, just like a cigarette lighter. compare the price with other brand for 8GB flash Drive, it is much cheaper.
Weaknesses: none so far.
Summary: 8GB Monstor USB Flash Drive which is very convience to have as backup drive, easy to carry around. A Hi-Speed USB (USB 2.0) very fast data transfer, good quality! Look cool.

2 Star ReviewMine stopped working
Strengths: Lots of space for the price
Weaknesses: stopped working after 3 months
Summary: It was working great. Then one day it just stopped being recognized by computers. I had left it connected to a computer for about 2 weeks. Maybe it overheated. I dunno. Its light still goes on. I had about 6gb of stuff on it that can be replaced. I'm getting a flash drive to replace it.

1 Star ReviewNot very dependable
Strengths: Size, both physical (small) and storage space (huge). I loved it at first.
Weaknesses: Not very dependable.
Summary: My first 8GB Monstor drive died after two weeks; the second one died after only a little over one week. Each drive was treated very carefully. Each time, the drive worked fine for a while and then, without warning, would not mount on any computer.

1 Star ReviewNot a USB Flash Drive, and stopped working
Strengths: None
Weaknesses: Not a flash drive, not able to insert in a usb port with neighbors, nowhere to attach to a key chain or so
Summary: Mine stopped working after putting in 4GB things for the first time of use. No way to get them out. buy.com shipped after two month of the order date. Figured that it is a micro-hard drive, but not a flash drive. Nobody answer technical support message.

DO NOT BUY!

2 Star Reviewgiving a try to portable applications/data center
Strengths: A lot of space for
Weaknesses: Big. Plastic shell look flemsy. Does not seem very reliable on disk copy (failed on 400Meg copy on USB2 twice in a row). Lack something to attached it to.
Summary: I was hoping to use this to carry my mails and other info around (encrypted ;-) )+ application (portable) instead of carrying my laptop, but given this reliability issue, I am not sure if that is a good idea, at least, not carrying more than a day's worth which means thinking of backing up everyday arriving at home... It is big but about the size of a fancy cigarette lighter (thinner most likely, 2.5"*1.6"*.4").

Good to carry a lot of data you don't care too much about. Not sure about the rest. Don't buy at more than $60 IMHO

2 Star ReviewDecent
Strengths: Portable. 8GB. Fairly fast transfer rate. Noiseless. Has a nice look to it; a silver finish and cool blue activity light. Cap stays on nice and snug. It won't fall off easily.
Weaknesses: Does tend to get a bit warm, but not overly hot. Seems a bit flimsy. Wide: may partially block a USB port to the left or right of it. No way to put a lanyard on it. Drive seems prone to failure.
Summary: 2007-08-16 11:07:45 I have been using this drive for a month and have not had any problems with it. It's decently fast for a hard drive. I've compared it with a couple of USB flash drives and found that, with my computer, the transfers are about 5-10 seconds slower per GB of data transferred. Of course, that will vary depending on your computer system, but it gives a decent starting point for realistic comparison.

There's only a few things that really bother me about using this drive. One is that, when inserted into the USB port, it seems like an accidental nudge when using it with a laptop might be enough to break it. This is really noticeable when removing it out of the port; it seems a bit more wiggly. I just take a little extra care when using it with my laptop.

Another issue is that the drive is wide enough to block another device being plugged into a port next to it. The drive itself doesn't cover the port, but is just wide enough to block the devices plug itself. But using a small extension cable and setting the drive on a flat surface takes care of both of the previous issues.

If you are looking for a device that you can put a lanyard on, this is not it. There isn't a notch on it to do so. But since it is a hard drive, which has moving parts, it probably wouldn't be smart to be banging it on things quite a bit.

Even though my comments are mostly negative I do like this drive. It's relatively inexpensive per GB, compared to it's solid-state cousins. It's not slow. I think you just need to use a little care when using this drive and it'll be fine.

If the drive does unexpectedly fail, I will definitely update this review. For now, I'm absolutely pleased with my purchase.

UPDATE: I've only had this drive for 2 1/2 months now and the drive has inexplicably failed. The light on the drive will still come on, and the computer recognizes that the drive has been plugged in, but it will not mount. Since my original review, I've really only used this about 3 more times and each transfer was for less than 50MB. I've kept this in a very safe location and have treated it like a gem. Since there are a lot more reviews that have this same issue, I wouldn't recommend this drive in particular. I'm just glad that I didn't pay more than $40 for this drive.

1 Star ReviewNot a USB Flash Drive
Strengths: A very small micro drive
Weaknesses: Advertised incorrectly. Not a USB Flash drive, but a micro or small regular drive. USB Flash drives are SMD (solid memory devices), and do not have cylinders that rotate.
Summary: Advertised incorrectly. Not a USB Flash drive (with solid Memory devices), but a micro USB drive (with rotating platters), much like the regular drive you have in your computer, only smaller. Drop it, and it could stop working forever; they aren't that portable. A real USB Flash drive can be left outside for a week and will still work fine; not so this microdrive. I have a similar 4 Gb drive like this one...replaced once all ready after I dropped it from the doorknob to the ground. I give it an unsatisfactory rating only because it is being advertised incorrectly. Microdrives have their place, I use mine often, but they are not Flash drives.

Strengths: Large storage, great price
Weaknesses: none so far
Summary: Just compare the price to the amount of storage available. It is way cheaper to buy this flash drive compared to smaller capacity ones. Unless you want to buy a portable hard drive, this thing is sweet. Portable hard drives need to use a USB cable, so you'll need to carry them around, even with ones that don't need power. With this flash drive, you'll just need to plug it in and it should be good to go.
