Strengths: Very good picture quality. Razor-sharp image using the DVI-D interface. Auto setup with the digital connection. Very good 3-pixel return policy. Great advance replacement warranty- 3 yrs no down time!
Weaknesses: Two stuck pixes. (Not too much of a problem, though one was stuck blue, the other black) Problem with resolution-switching on first unit I received.
Summary: 2004-06-09 08:58:32 I purchased this monitor to use on my Mac off the DVI connector of a GeForce4 MX. Works fine on startup, however once I switch resolutions out of native mode and return to native mode the display will occasionally flash on and off, and show static-like lines all over the display. I have run this computer with an Envision 19" LCD with no repeatable problems for some time now so it must be a problem with the internal DVI interface of the Planar. Customer support had not been helpful nor knowledgeable- trying to blame it on the difference between a DVI-I interface on my nVidia card to the DVI-D interface on the monitor (there is no difference- digital pin layouts are the same) however the second representative quickly set up a replacement to be sent to my location. Great buy for the price- better brightness and clarity than most monitors I looked at in this price range. Built in speakers are small and really worthless for anything more than system sounds. Great buy!!
