Strengths: Crisp audio
Good isolation
Small profile
Good bang for the buck if you want audio performance without burning a hole in your pocket.
Weaknesses: Supplied ear foamies don't last too long, wish I purchased more.
The piece that tightes the split cord seems cheap, but bearable.
Summary: I'm not an audiophile and this is my first IEM. I'm definitely content with my UM1s. The small profile makes it easy to lay in bed on your side without somethin sticking out too much. Isolation is good with the provided comply tips, use these with my zen all the time on the airplane. Sound quality is good.
I did get some noise from when the cord was positioned in certain areas or bent in a certain fashion. The little plastic piece that secures the line behind your neck seems a bit cheap, but doable. One thing I wish I did was buy comply tips, I'm almost out after a few months. The triple flange is too big for my ears so i couldn't really use those.
Overall, I'm very satisfied with the UM1s.
