Summary: We purchased two of these 16 piece sets to replace a 15 year old set of Corelle in a different pattern. Because of our high satisfaction with Corelle, we did not even consider a different brand. All of the qualities listed above as strengths described our experience with the previous set.
This set, Classic Cafe Blue, is attractive and comes with four dinner plates, four bread and butter plates, four soup/cereal bowls, and four 11 oz mugs. A set, different model number but same color, is also available with coordinated glasses instead of mugs.
Our research on Corelle showed that their dinnerware varies in terms of length of warranty (1, 3, or 5 years) and some ambiguity about what is covered (break/chip or break/chip/scratch/stain). Because the listing for this model only mentioned break/chip resistant, I was a little concerned about scratches and stains but we ordered it anyway. So that you will know, the warranty label on the box for this set says, "3 year limited warranty; break and chip resistant." However, elsewhere on the box, the product is described as "metal mark/scratch and stain resistant." It appears to be protected against scratches and stains so I am not expecting any problems.
A short funny story: Recently, while visiting friends in another state, we sat down at their house for a meal together. Something kept tugging at my mind until I realized they had exactly the same Corelle dinnerware (type, color, and pattern) as us. What are the odds that, of all the dinnerware manufacturers and patterns available, we would have exactly the same sets?
Bottom line: We are very pleased with Corelle dinnerware, and look forward to many years of enjoying this new set.
