Strengths: Knob packs a lot of options into small space; beeps 1/2way thru defrost for flipping/stirring; express mode works great for popcorn; beverage setting quick; holds 12" pizza pan; quick convec preheat
Weaknesses: 15-sec (micro)/1-min (oven) increments is a pain; 100s of vent holes inside is cleaning nightmare; only comes in stainless (not stainless-look), every fingerprint shows--handle is stainless
Summary: We bought this microwave to replace our built-in, so we purchased the additional trim kit (JX1530CSH). This will take care of the problem of every last speck of dust showing on the microwave's top. I still can't figure out how to stop all the fingerprints; it looked yucky even before we'd used it, just from the deliverers lifting it out of the box. The pre-set increments (15 sec for micro, 30 sec for defrost, 1 min for convection) are inflexible, so if you really want to microwave something for 22 seconds, you'll have to stand there and turn it off 8 seconds early. Also, b/c of the convection feature, the fan in the back makes the interior smaller than you'd expect for its size, but our salesperson warned us about that. On the plus size, I bake frequently and was skeptical about how well a combo microwave would work, but both cookies and fries tasted great! And it preheats so much faster than a regular, full-sized oven. The express mode is great, b/c it turns your micro back on w/the touch of just 1 button, a must-have when your popcorn's not quite done. The knob took some getting used to, but we like it now. This also has a rotating base that our old micro didn't have, as well as an elevating metal shelf for convection items. So except for the incremental timing and the stainless steel being impossible to keep pristine, we're very happy with it and would buy it again.
