Strengths: Unbreakable - "Good" Sound - Easy Setup - 4.1 Dolby Surround Sound
Weaknesses: A little "Big and Bulky" - Ugly to look at
Summary: Originally purchased with a Dell System about 3 ½ years ago, these speakers have trouble free blown out DVDs and first person shooters at least once per day since they were originally set up. The sound does not match the newer speakers on the market such as the Klipsch Promedia 5.1 or the Logitech Z-680, however they were king of their own time in 1999. They have been hit by countless power strikes and have had no problems at all, simply needing to be powered off and on. The subwoofer is an ugly “Block” roughly 1.5’x 1’x 1’ (I don’t know exact measurements). The greatest thing about these speakers is the rear satellite speakers have the ability to attach to the front speakers and act as a 2.1 system. I bought a pair of Sony SRS-A11 (walkman speakers) and plugged them in where the rear speakers could attach to the main front speakers, and then set up the satellites off of the subwoofer. Essentially I added a set of very high pitch tweeters to my system for 6 full speakers. Oh, and as a side note, the remote control for the speakers is easy to use and extremely convenient when matched with a cordless mouse (DVD’s from across the room)
