Poulan ES350 3.5 hp electric
Strengths: comfortable grips, strong motor, easy to work with
Weaknesses: shafts snapped on two saws that saw perhaps 25-40 hours of service each
Summary: I cut a lot of firewood for home heating from pallets made of both soft and hard woods. I've been buying and using chain saws for over 30 years. I like this saw a lot, unfortunately there is a defect with the sprock shaft. I had good success with an earlier ES300 3.0 hp saw, but I worked it too hard and it overheated and the motor seized. My bad, and I learned to avoid that problem. I bought my first ES350 in Sept 05, and after the shaft broke, exchanged it in March 06. I used that saw for 20-30 hours in the summer 06 but not again till Jan 07. The same problem. With a new chain installed and under normal cutting conditions the shaft on the new one snapped. I'm having it repaired, maybe, and will use it again but this is my last purchase of this model. Too bad, I would prefer to buy USA made.
