jona305 Member Since: Dec 2006 View Member's: Reviews Product Experience: 5 Days	RD085DT DVD recorder Strengths: User 'Front' end, Freeview, Hard disk, easy to record, elec prog guide (EPG), slimsize Weaknesses: Noisy when switched on, no HDMI, large remote Summary: I purchased this as a package with My Tosh LCD TV (which is fantastic!) Anyway, the DVD Recorder is a nice looking slim design, eay to setup and recording programmes is a breeze. The DVD recorder looks good and feels like a quality product in terms of finish and weight. Some nice features include recording thumbnails and user defined folder/s to store/keep. Transferring DVD content to Hard disk and from HD back to disc is simple and straightforward. Editing is not not so easy, but it's easier when compared to the Philips and Sony recorders. Around the back you will find most of the standard connections RGB composite and SVideo, but No HDMI (but then most of the other recorders currently shipping don't have HDMI. Good quality Freeview tuner. Weaknesses: Slow start up; One touch recording from EPG doesn't compensate for late running programmes.Very large remote. Summary: Had this DVD recorder for 3 months now - excellent choice - the strengths more than out weigh the weaknesses.Easy to set up and record and the quality of recorded picture is infinitely better than that of my previous Freeview tuner/SVHS video recorder. Looks well built and slim appearance fits well under my TV. Only downsides are probably not unique to this m/c.Missed the end of the final episode of "Robin Hood" cos it started late when using the one touch record from the Programme Guide and when trying to record multiple progs one evening,managed to wipe one timer when setting another. No HDMI output but since I have relatively recently bought a new TV which isn't HDTV READY I'm not bothered. 100% of People (14/14) found this review helpful.
