3 Star ReviewOverall Pretty Good
Strengths: Has clear sound, decent routing options and probably more features and other systems in this price range. DVD player works great and has great picture. Can go very loud if one wants.
Weaknesses: Not enough bass, I had to set the subwoofer to +6 db and all the others to -6 db just to get the balance that I wanted and I still could use a little more but it'll do.
Summary: Overall, I'm satisfied for the price. The speakers really do sound good and although people have said the DVD interface is not user friendly its fine, no problems there. My main concern is the lack of bass. I'm the kind of guy who likes to have the option of having bowel loosening bass if I want. A system that boast 1000 watts should have that but no. Its fine, great for movies. Seriously though, my 50 dollar logitech computer speakers put out more bass that this setup. For the price though, its a good buy for sure. When you compare it to others in the same price range and even the more expensive ones have less features than this so I'm happy. Its the only system under 350 that has two way speakers (separation of frequencies on satellite speakers for clearer sound) If my comments about the bass have concerned you then I'd go to a store and check it out for yourself, chances if you're not a freak like me then you should be satisfied with it. Its a good buy.

3 Star ReviewGreat entry-level home theater
Strengths: Low price. Simple. Good sound for entry-level system.
Weaknesses: Chrome on speakers looks cheap. Poor mounting. Integrated wires. So-so logic controls. What is with the huge volume knob on the main unit? Poor FM reception.
Summary: For a low price you can have theater sound at home. In reality I spent more money wiring my house for theater sound than on this unit to make it work. The wires are integral to the speakers and specific plugs for each channel, so I had to splice them to use them with in wall wiring. The mounts are stupid and show. I used common hinges to angle the front speakers and attach them to my walls rather than the stock hangers.

The remote does not turn on the unit??? And why is there a huge rotary volume control when you will probably always use the remote? Also, the chrome on the speakers is stupid.

I does do what it is supposed to though. The sound is clear and a huge improvement over stock TV speakers. Theater sound really makes for real movie experience.

3 Star ReviewSmall price for a rather large package of equipment
Strengths: Easy to set-up. Very good value for the price paid.
Weaknesses: Not a top of the line sound system.
Summary: Very nice sound and can't beat the price, FREE with my HDTV from BestBuy! If you are a home theater perfectionist then this system is not for you.

If you are on a budget consider this sytem. Available at Sams Club for under $200.

    3 Months
Strengths: Can play music directly from flash drive, Good length of speaker wire, speakers connect to sub so less wires to receiver
Weaknesses: speaker wire goes directly into speaker no easy connect, system has slight crackle while changing inputs, mounting options need to be a bit better
Summary: I have had this system for 3 months and overall love it. It has all the decoders I need for dvd. It can play from the usb port from flash drives, and has enough adjustments fot the speakers. Obviously this isn't a really high quality system, but it works and sounds well for the $150 i paid after a rebate. Do get it for a easy solution for a small room.

Strengths: (1) Great sound! (2) Digital input available for 5.1 surround with game systems using Toslink Optical cable
Weaknesses: (1) DVD player is somewhat slow to respond to commands
Summary: I purchased this HTIB system for under $100 and am very pleased with its quality. The sound quality is great and the speakers have long wires so you can run them through your attic or wherever in order to hide them. The DVD player is Progressive Scan but not upconverting. The tuner is nice for listening to the radio and there is a USB input for playing MP3's straight from a Flash drive (songs can't be in folders, they must be in the root directory). I was also very pleased to find that it has a digital input so I can connect my XBOX 360 to it and enjoy 5.1 surround with my games (though, it requires the additional purchase of Coaxial-to-Toslink adapter and Toslink cable).
