Strengths: Stylish speakers, DVD writer for double-sided DVDs, wireless addition for 2 more speakers (optional), HDMI, improved image output, solid sound, easy assembly.
Weaknesses: Low grade wires for speakers, no disk changer, weak signal from the remote control, tiny butons on remote control, short wires.
Summary: I have purchased the Home Theater online at BestBuy.com.

Order Total: $510.29. I have ordered for pickup at a local store but later was informaed that it's not available, so, the store offered free delivery to my home address. I am pleased with a delivery and packing: everything was as promised and on-time. I have assembled the system in about 25 min. I am very pleased with a quality of sound and functionality of the system. Not every system today has a DVD writer of a high quality (better than any others). I have seen the review notes from the other folks about the quality of wires, and I have to agree with them. Tiny wires (and 3 of them are shorter than I need) is not what I would expect from $500 system. I'll look for better wires, no question. I did not test the system with a TV but rather with the Viewsonic LCD projector. I enjoed "Hatch" movie in 16:9 format. Maybe it's not the best DVD for testing, but it is what I had at that moment.

The problem with any room where you install the system is that you rarely have the sofa in the middle of the room - usually next to the wall, and the rear speakers in this case are located quite close to you, much closer than other speakers, so, in order to have the surround sound you have increase the volume for front speakers. It increases the volume to the rear speakers at the same level. In short, I still don't know what should I do in order to adjust the volumes separately. I am not sure there is a chance to do it but honestly, I did not look in the documentation in details, yet. I was disappointed with the remote control: tiny buttons, weak signal (maybe AAA butteries are not so new?). You have to spend several seconds, at least, in order to find what you are looking for on the remote control. The volume/channel buttons are so tiny!

Overall, I am satisfied with the system even it has some shortcomings. I respect the Panasonic brand, and I use their products for many years. I am sure that for $1K and above you may purchase better system, but for $486 + tax it's a good choice.

Strengths: Great sound, excellent design asthetics, ability to record dvd.
Weaknesses: Limited to one disc, you will need to get 16 gauge wire for best performance.
Summary: I purchased this HTIB through amazon for $449.00 incl. shipping. I went with this system as consumer reports rated it very highly in a recent test and also because it offers dvd recording capability and HDMI connectivity. Assembly and set up were generally straight forward. What I do recommend is that one uses 16 ga. speaker wire to get the best performance out of this system. The wires that are included are basically worthless (as is generally the case for a HTIB application). All in all, I am pleased with my decision-I would purchase again.

Strengths: Absolutely awesome upconversion to 1080i. Fantastic value for power...sound quality and ease of use.
Weaknesses: HDMI out only
Summary: Never have I purchased a better AV product. My history includes an Hitachi 60" LCD with top of line upconversion Phillips DVR and other Plasma/LCD upconversion combo's. No comparison to any other system I have ever owned! This unit works with a Sony Theater system on a 119" screen.

I waited to write this review after comparing to a recently acquired Toshiba HD-DVD. Absolutely no real discernable difference at 1080i(HDMI). Unbelievable... and no I do not work for Panasonic but feel this is one of the best things to happen now that the battle between Sony Blue and HD-DVD has begun. Keep your DVD collection and thoroughly enjoy Panasonic's fabulous accomplishment!
