Strengths: The pros are fairly obvious: space saving, great look, no cumbersome wiring, the surround effect is clearly separated, AND it is NOT dependent on room configuration. Additional pro is the sound quality: Mid range is wonderful, jazz and vocal sounds ha
Weaknesses: The cons is pretty obvious too. It is not real surround, so it does NOT give 360-degree feel to the sound field, but rather gives about 180-degree feel.
Summary: THE SURROUNDBAR PRODUCES GREAT SOUND. LIKE ALL THE OTHER REVIEWS I READ IT DOES NOT PRODUCE A 360 DEGREE AFFECT. BUT IT DOES GET THE SOUNDS TO THE SIDES OF THE ROOM. THE QUALITY OF THE SOUND IS GREAT, EVEN WHEN LISTENING TO MUSIC. I WOULD BUY IT AGAIN AS THE SOUND AFFECT IS GOOD ENOUGH CONSIDERING, I DON'T HAVE TO RUN WIRES, WHICH WAS IMPOSSIBLE IN THE ROOM IT IS IN.

3 Star ReviewPolk Audio Surroundbar
Strengths: Nice one box solution in a handsome package. Excellent sound provided a subwoofer is used too.
Weaknesses: Not the last word in pseudo-surround sound. Too pricey for what it does.
Summary: I like the sound of the Surroundbar very much. Smooth midrange and highs and upper bass. Definitely needs the sub to get any of the feel of home theatre though. While the sense of spaciousness is definitely there, it won't knock your socks off - i.e the surround effect does not "surround" you. For the list price, definitely a poor value. If you get a sale price AND one of the promotions of a free subwoofer, then it gets elevated to an OK value. I'm keeping mine because there is nothing else out there that does what the Surroundbar does in one box. The Yamaha version would NOT work since my tv/speaker is mounted in a (flat) corner of a rectangular room that has only three walls - think open floor plan. Otherwise, I would have considered that system.

2 Star Reviewaverage speaker
Strengths: Looks and and ok as a speaker.
Weaknesses: I can't get some kind of surround sound effect to work but I guess its ok as a regular speaker.
Summary: I am not totally satisfied with this speaker because of the surround effect I can not get out it. Maybe I am doing something wrong and someone can help me.
