    Product Experience:
    2 Years
Strengths: Extremely durable casing, best skilsaw in any cordless combo kit, angled reciprocating saw, comes with hard carrying case
Weaknesses: Would benefit from a longer-lasting battery
Summary: The Dewalt DCX6401 is a great kit for the general framer or contractor. It comes with the following:

- 36V Cordless Hammerdrill

- 36V Circular Saw

- 36V Reciprocating Saw

- 36V Floodlight Combo Kit

- 2 36V Batteries

- 1 Hour charger

- Heavy duty case

(My husband is a contractor and here is his experience with these tools.)

I own three of these 36V kits and also the 6pc Bosch 18V kit. Here is my take on the basic tools:

THE D900 36V 1/2 HAMMERDRILL/DRILL/DRIVER - this is a fairly reliable drill/driver, and is comparable to other drill/drivers in other cordless kits. Not amazing, but not bad either. I find I don't get a lot of use out of it as I use my impact driver a lot more on the job. It would be great if Dewalt would come out with a kit that included an impact driver instead of this drill/driver.

THE DC300 36V Circular Saw has a 7 1/4 carbide tipped blade and rip fence. THIS IS THE ABSOLUTE BEST CORDLESS SKILSAW IN ANY COMBO KIT OUT THERE. It has great balance, superior RPMs and maintains good battery power (compared to other battery powered skilsaws). MUCH better than the Bosch 18V cordless skilsaw -- the bosch 18v skilsaw rips the wood instead of cutting it. The Dewalt skilsaw is pretty much the main reason why I keep buying this kit for my framing crews -- great for cutting 3/4 inch OSB sheeting - I am always suprised at how easily it cuts through this stuff.

DC305 36V CORDLESS RECIPROCATING SAW - This is the second reason I keep buying this kit -- The reciprocating saw is great because it comes with a turning head that allows you to flush-cut and cut on angles. The flush cut is PERFECT for cutting out studs and the angled cut is great for cutting boards on a roof. This is the only cordless recip. saw I know of that lets you flush cut. All in all, a REALLY useful reciprocating saw.

DC509 36V Flexible Floodlight -- What can I say . . . it's a light. My kids seem to like playing with it.

The TWO 36V BATTERIES - OK, here's my big complaint. Like most cordless combo kits, this one really needs more battery power - you're always changing batteries out. You definitely need more than 2 batteries in a day. Good thing they only take 1/2 to 1 hour to charge! Really, if you're using this kit on an all-day type job, it's best to have 4 batteries kicking around. If you're doing some hard cutting with the skil-saw, for example, you can use up a fully-charged battery in 10 minutes.

The hard case is really handy. It's great for stacking stuff on top of . . . or using a lunch table. Also, if you have more than one kit, they stack great when travelling. (The Bosch kit comes with a canvas-type bag -- it's horrible and bangs your tools around!)

The tools themselves are really sturdy. My crew have dropped them off roofs, thrown them at each other (and missed catching them) and continue to use them every day -- abused as they are, they continue to work. From my experience, this is a great all-around cordless combo tool kit, mainly because of how sturdy it is and the great skilsaw and reciprocating saw.
