Believe it is a short as it went out when the display lighting dial was turned. Summary: Called Monster and they were having "technical difficulties" and could not talk to me. No problem as I'm returning unit to store today and buying an Adcom with which I have had good experience in the past. 33% of People (1/3) found this review helpful. Summary: I only buy monster power for my home theater. I have this, and the mk 1000 both of which I am very happy with. 6ave. gave me an awesome price. Better than anything I seen from an authorized dealer! I saved over 150 bucks. sweeeeet! So far, my TV looks crisp. I do no use the Ant. or Cable hookups because they don't replicate the feed like it's suppose to. Let see how this bad boy works during a spike. Which I know the mk1000 totally worked. Weaknesses: none that i can think of Summary: this is not the best unit in the series but it will do for my applications I have other units of monster products in my systems. Strengths: REDUCES NOISE, BUZZ FROM HOME THEATRE SYSTEM, ELIMINATES LINES THAT I SAW ON TV BEFORE. GREAT POWER CENTER!! Weaknesses: PRICE Summary: I BOUGHT IT FROM ELECTRONIC EXPO AT AN MORE THAN HALF OFF! THATS THE ONLY REASON I BOUGHT IT. I CURRENTLY WORK AT CIRCUIT CITY AND NEVER BELIEVED THE WHOLE IDEA OF MONSTER AND THOUGHT THEY WERE OVER PRICED. I USED TO THINK YOU CAN USE ANY BRAND WITH THE SAME FEATURES AND GET SIMILAR OUTCOMES. I WAS WRONG. MONSTER POWER HAS ELIMINATED NOISE AND BUZZES FROM MY ONKYO HOME THEATRE SYSTEM. THE PICTURE QUALITY DIDNT IMPROVE SO MUCH BUT IT ELIMINATED A LINE I ALWAYS USED TO SEE, AS IF SOMETHING WAS BEING SCANNED. I WAS TOTALLY IMPRESSED AND I AM DEFINETLY RECOMENDING MONSTER POWER AND CABLES TO FUTURE CUSTOMERS. I AM A BELIEVER NOW!! LOL. TRUST ME, ITS A GREAT LINE CONDITIONER AND SURGE PROTECTOR. I have always been impressed with Monster's products and this one is no different. After watching a few movies and several HD programs, I cannot say that I can see or hear that much of a difference in picture and sound quality, but I believe knowing that a sophisticated power conditioner is protecting all my equipment is well worth the price. Aside from the protection, there are also many features that are quite handy such as timed outlets that only provide power when a specified device is turned on (great for a powered sub). Considering all the money I have invested into a plasma TV, audio equipment, video game system, etc., another few hundred dollars to protect and warranty the equipment only makes sense. You probably could get away with a good conventional surge protector. This works well as an expensive surge protector. It also is supposed to decrease noise in the power lines to improve the quality of the picture and sound. If it does improve things, it is minimal.
