archanut from LA Member Since: Feb 2004 View Member's: Reviews Product Experience: 2 Days	Nikon 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6G ED-IF AF-S VR DX Zoom-Nikkor Lens Strengths: - Great Looks and Construction - VR Makes for great Handheld shots - Very clear and sharp optics - Auto focus with Manual override Weaknesses: - Very Large filter size - Large barrel can cause Lens flash shadow in some extreme closeups. - Not good for Architectural photos because of distortion Summary: I really love this lens, I think it is a great lens for those who take pictures of people like I do. The large zoom range is ideal for me. Also the VR is allowing me to take pictures of things that I could never get before, and it allows me turn of the flash more often and get more natural looking pictures. Weaknesses: Plastic parts feel cheap, a little bit heavy. Summary: This is the dream travel lens for Nikon users. This lens can be used for most of the pictures. The elimination of changing lens is really convenient, and reduce getting dust on CCD. The VR is fantastic. I can take pictures at very low shutter speed (1/20) without using a tripod. So this 18-200 lens not only save your weight and space to carry extra lens, but also save the sapce for carring a tripod. The VR is also great for indoor pictures without flash. focus speed is very fast. The only thing not good for this lens is the availability.
