Strengths: True Bypass, Sturdy Aluminum Casing, VU Meter
Weaknesses: The battery compartment isn't very snug, allowing the battery to rattle around during transport.
Summary: Wanting a bit of funk for my bass, I came across a good deal on the Ashdown Bass Envelope Filter. Although I had been considering DigiTech's Bass Synth Wah, this Ashdown product seemed like a better buy. The True Bypass Switching prevents degradation of the signal when the effect isn't in use, and the lit VU meter is very helpful in adjusting the input level of the effect for optimum performance. The aluminum casing makes this pedal very tough and roadworthy, while its rubber feet keep it from sliding around on the stage. The filter peak is highly adjustable, can be set for an up or down sweep, and band pass or low pass filters may be selected.

My only annoyance is that the battery compartment allows the battery to rattle around during transport, which could lead to battery leakage. Using a 9v DC adapter with this pedal is a good idea.

Ashdown's customer service is very friendly and responsive, and I'm very glad to have purchased this product! I highly recommend it!
