It has the built in HD to record to and then re-record onto the VCR or DVD's. Easy to use and offers a lot of different connections. Weaknesses: Difficult to set up menus or customize them. Summary: I really like this item as I purchased it to make it easier to burn home movies and movies that I recorded on my DVR. Easy to use out of the box. Good quality picture & sound. More features than described in listings Weaknesses: A bit complex to operate for an average TV/VCR user; but ok for PC literate Summary: Looks nice; has good output when used with my DirectTV/TIVO receiver/pvr. Can archive from PVR no problem. Set up is not intuitive, but manageable. Finally got videos of kid onto DVD. Also play MP3 & JPEG - a bonus. 87% of People (26/30) found this review helpful. The Quality of the recording is excellent. The reuse of a DVDRW and The Cost of a DVD,the amount of space to store. Weaknesses: I have found that initially it was dificult to get the Features Identified to complete a VHS to DVD Dub. Maybe a better Instruction Manual. Remote Control angle to be Control Unit could be increased Summary: The use of the unit has been a positive addition to my Home Theater System. It connects direct to my Amplifier. It also can connect Direct to my In focus Screen play Projector when if required. The quality of the Video Output is Great and the Audio Signal. Summary: Had this same product for just over 2 years, then the dvd drawer would not open any more, so had to buy another one.
