Strengths: Cheap, Fast, manual, easy to install Weaknesses: A little noisy when no disc is inserted Summary: This is a very good DVD player to purchase if you're on a budget. It comes with an excellent manual, which seems to be a rarity in bargain products. Installation was very easy, and Windows XP already has a driver for it, so there was no need for me to pop in the included CD. The only slight annoyance with the product is that when you start up your computer and there is no disc in the player, then you can hear some spinning noise, as if the motor that spins the disc is slightly touching the plastic tray. Strengths: This drive is exceptionally quiet and has fast access speed. Installation is effortless. Manual control can change reading speed for CD from 48x to 40x - a plus. It is lighter and smaller than usual. Weaknesses: Two small buttons on the face plate are hard to find given the black color and lack of color contrast. Use of a rubber band to connect the tray and motor may be a reliablilty concern for the long run. Summary: it is an overall good value despite the minor concerns. I play both CD and DVD in this drive flawlessly in a Dell computer. The Power DVD 5 software comes with the drive and works fine. 100% of People (2/2) found this review helpful. Strengths: Speed, price, black color Weaknesses: None so far Summary: Great, cheap DVD-ROM... definitely does what it should and fast. It reads DVD's faster than my NEC DVD burner can read them.
