Weaknesses: None yet.
Summary: Ordered this cool USB flash device when it went on sale at ecost.com. Glad I did. Small, portable, works out of the package without the need for any additional drivers. Comes with extra end cap lids in case you lose yours.

Strengths: Small, ton's of room, and riduculously durable!
Weaknesses: None!
Summary: This is a great product! It has a great amount of storage space for the cost and size. It's also extremely durable. I was working a new pond I dug after work and leaned over and the flash drive accidentally fell out of my shirt pocket and fell in! The pond is almost 4 feet deep, filled with fish, and plants. It lay on the bottom for over ten minutes before i was able to find it and bring it topside. I blow dried it and plugged it in. Worked like a charm! The little green light that lets you know it's transferring data is still working too. Awesome product, I'd recommend to all!

Ok, this is the second time I've edited this post. ...
Strengths: Fast, simple.
Weaknesses: Durability!!!
Summary: 2005-06-26 11:23:50 Ok, this is the second time I've edited this post. I bought this thing some time ago (approx 1.5 yrs) and I was very satisfied with it for about three months. Worked fine, real fast and VERY convenient. Then, it crashed on me. My computer would register it as a Sandisk Cruzer Mini, but would show it as having 0 bytes. I went back and forth with Sandisk Customer support and they said it was my fault because you're supposed to format the drive from time to time. Didn't know I had to do that every month. Actually, didn't know I had to do it at all. Well, lucky for me it was still under warranty and they took it back and spent about 3 months sending me a replacement. So, now I'm back to being all happy again since I've go a working USB drive that I paid tons of money for. Well, about 3 days ago I saved a paper I'm working on for a class to my USB drive, put the drive in my backpack in the plastic protector I carry it in so it won't get broken, drive over to the library and try to open the paper on my laptop. Guess What?!?! The laptop recognizes the device but says it has 0 bytes. Same dang problem as last time. Go to google and search for "cruzer mini please insert disk" You'll get tons of hits. Apparently this thumb drive has some REAL cheap memory that goes bad real often. The drive won't even let me reformat it. It's just dead. So I'm gonna start going round with customer service on monday. But I'm so far out of warrant I doubt they'll even talk to me. If you're considering buying this thing, DON"T! Get one from a good company like Lexar, which I"ll have to do if I can't recoup my losses on this one.

Strengths: Simple, convenient, no problem's using it and very fast.
Weaknesses: Takes up space for more than one port. Might want to purchase an extender cable (about $4.00) to go with it. Also uses a software version of locking instead of a simple lock switch like other drives.
Summary: Pertaining to the UTKEngineer review - If you format the drive (I'd recommend FAT32), you get almost 24 MB back for a grand total of 1000 Megs!
The software that came installed on the drive was buggy. Had to go to the website and download an updated version which works just fine. Takes up an extra 3 MB if you use it.
Overall, good impression. Will purchase from this manufacturer again.

Strengths: Fast, durable and fits into spaces that others won't
Weaknesses: Nothing worth mentioning
Summary: I bought a 256mb over 9 months ago and found so many uses for it I needed something bigger - 1gb does the trick (for now).

Strengths: HUGE storage capacity, fast tranfer rate, and it's very small.
Weaknesses: The ONLY weakness I can find is it will not attach to my keychain as I had hoped.
Summary: This USB key is pretty cool. I've had it about a week and I absolutely love it. The only complaint I have about it is very minor but it is that I cannot attach it to a keychain, as I wanted to. It does come with a string to wear around your neck, but besides carrying it in your pocket there's no way to attach it to your keychain for convenience. But that DEFINITELY outweighs its HUGE 1GB storage capacity and the fast USB 2.0 transfer rate.

Failed after a few days
Strengths: None.
Weaknesses: Failed after a few days.
Summary: My experience may be anomalous, but I had the 1gb Cruzer Mini for less than a week when it failed altogether. Every time I plugged it in thereafter, it crashed my computer. I returned it for a refund and bought the 2gb Lexar JumpDrive Secure II. That has worked perfectly (and it keeps my documents secure from prying eyes if I ever lose the drive), but it's obviously more expensive than a 1gb drive. There are a number of sites that compare the performance and speed of these flash drives -- it's worth having a look at the ratings if performance is an issue for you. Both the Cruzer Mini and the Lexar JumpDrive get only fair speed reviews.

Strengths: Very fast access, lots of space, lightweight
Weaknesses: No hole for keyring
Summary: I love the speed of the Cruzer Mini. For most of what I do, I copy files over the network. But on the occasions when I need to carry something with me, so that I am sure I have it, this is so much better than a floppy disk! There is plenty of space for even the largest files, and it is very quick. In fact, I was able to copy two complete installation CDs onto it at the same time, and the setup ran perfectly. If you have USB 2.0, you will not believe the speed!

Strengths: Works very well and is very fast.
Weaknesses: Short about 50 megs in room for a 1 gig.
Summary: Have only purchased Lexar prior to this. Bought this on the strength of the reviews here and the price here. It was the right thing to do. Very happy!

Strengths: Size of unit, size of storage... Blazing speeds.
Works great with the MP3 player (optional purchase).
Weaknesses: As of yet, no weaknesses
Summary: I purchased 2 of them, one for files (huge files) and the other to load my MP3s on & use in the sandisk cruizer MP3 player (optional purchase).
These were a huge jump from the flash drives I already owned, I jumped on the boat when they first appeared on the market & have a host of smaller devices, now instead of a pocket full of drives I use one that I can hardly fill.
As for the people saying 'hey where is my 1 GB' & 'missing 30 - 50 MB'...
Tell me something, dose your 80GB HD show in your system as being 80GB... NOooooooooooooooooooo.
I suggest you read up on how PC's read drive sizes & why.
Back to review.
Best 'gadget' I have bought over the years that actually has a purpose, bonus is the drastic price drop right now.
Be smart, buy a couple while they are cheap as the prices will skyrocket before Xmas... give them as gifts & people will think you spent 3 - 4 times as much on this very thoughtful gift.

I got this little guy about three days ago. When ...
Strengths: Very, very, very small. Looks good. Huge size. Locking program is great. Way better than the "switch" because if someone tries to use it, you can lock them out with a password.
Weaknesses: Can't get it to work most of the time, and Sandisk's website isn't all that good.
Summary: I got this little guy about three days ago. When I first got it, I ripped open the package and stuck into a computer with Windows XP Pro. Error message came up that the drivers did not install correctly. Stuck the guy in a second computer with Windows XP Pro, and it worked fine. Got to play with it, play with the included password protected program. Everything was great. Brought it to work and put it into a computer with XP Home and the same error message as before came on.
I've gone to the Sandisk website, and downloaded the driver. However, if you have XP the program shuts down because "XP doesn't need a driver." I'm now contacting Sandisk directly through e-mail. We shall see where this goes. They recommended I format the disk, but I cannot if I do not have a computer that recognizes it.
If I get everything fixed, and working properly, this will be my favorite toy for a long time.

Strengths: small, fits USB hub with other devices
Weaknesses: none
Summary: One of my favorite toys. I carry several of the mini-cruzers including the titanium for the most important files. Be sure to check out Beyond Compare to compare files and only load the new ones from a folder, etc. BC is one of my favorite programs and a must if you want to keep track of what's on your regular hard drive vs. the flash drives and ensure all files are up to date on all drives. There is nothing more maddening than trying to figure out which file is the most recent, and BC does it in a heartbeat.
