Read More Description: The 32" screen size is replacing 27" screens as the minimum size for people who want a high-impact experience viewing a wide range of material, including DVD movies. If you're looking for a high-definition flat-panel TV with a picture that's bright enough to stand up to room lights or daylight, Sharp's LC-32D50U has you covered. The built-in tuner pulls in over-the-air HDTV programming without the need for a separate tuner box. When Sharp introduced the AQUOS line several years ago, it made people take LCD TVs seriously for the first time. Since then, a steady stream of innovations has kept AQUOS TVs at the forefront of LCD design. Sharp's Multi-Pixel technology: each pixel is divided into two sections to dramatically improve off-angle viewing ? both horizontally and vertically. Sharp's "Quick Shoot" video circuitry provides one of the fastest pixel response times we've seen; moving objects on screen flow cleanly, with no distracting lag or ghosting. The LC-32D50U's boomerang-shaped table stand can be removed if you prefer wall-mounting (wall bracket not included). The non-removable stereo speakers are positioned below the screen instead of on the sides, so the TV is compact in depth and width. Minimize |

Strengths: Attention to high picture quality, excellent advanced ATSC/NTSC tuner, excellent user menu features, numerous ports for additional uses and added equipment. High-end PC monitor quality and ability.
Weaknesses: Remote offers fewer codes than the comparable Panasonic TC-32LX70 for added equipment such as satellite receivers.
Summary: 2007-06-07 11:28:51 Sharp has provided a flat panel screen with 1366x780 resolution, 450 cd/m2 and a 6ms refresh, which is more than acceptable for excellent viewing on any 32" TV monitor. User selectable settings provide for computer use, and a wealth of computer like settings for the set itself.
The HDTV tuner is the big ticket with excellent digital and analog "smart" management of channels. It aligns them in the listing with their Analog counterparts and displays each each multi-cast channel available with menu features for added management. The tuner provides excellent channel acquisition and stability. None the less, the many equipment ports provided also offer many additional menu features for tweaking of video and audio.
Don't kid yourself, this set is also an excellent computer monitor using its DVI port, and it RS 232C D-sub port allows the user to control the TV from a computer. iLink support also supports all levels of 100, 200, and 400 Mbps. for newer DVD players and such - you can also "daisy chain" them for up to 16 connected units. Two HDMI ports are also included for equipment using it. Simple after or before initial settings, the Aquos 32D50U provides even the enthusiasts with a much higher level of performance than one would expect. Browse the Online manual available from Sharp for this set and you can quickly see what I mean. This is an outstanding value for a 32" set with quality apparent from every angle. There is nothing cheap about anything Sharp has provided in this model, including excellent attention to engineering details.

Strengths: looks great in a bedroom.
Weaknesses: TV cable is not in the greatest spot.
Summary: I have been researching the 32" LCD market for quite some time before purchasing this TV. And I have to be frank, this TV is great. I own 3 HD TV's a Samsung LCD, Panasonic plasma, and this one. This is by far the best analog picture of all three. Love the options that it has, menu system on the sharp is really great with endless features. Definately a great buy especially considering the price.
The coaxil cable is hard to get to, but not a big deal. The manufactures settings on the TV are up WAAAY to high. So when you get it you'll want to adjust it to some. But with a little patience you can get pefect detail. The remote is quite large, but I use my satalite remote to run everything anyhow so no big deal there either.

Strengths: 1. Lots of inputs (HDMI x2, DVI, S-Video, Component, Composite, and Firewire)
2. Lots of picture adjustments
3. Amazingly fast response time (6ms)
4. Deep, rich blacks
5. Snappy styling
Weaknesses: 1. Slight loss of details in dark areas
2. Slight loss of saturation off-angle
3. Only one component input
4. No removable speaker (available on last year's model)
Summary: 2006-07-12 09:04:46 Released in June, the Aquous 32" LC32D50U is grouped with Sharp's high-end line-up of LCD flat panels for 2006. Unfortunately, the LC32D50U doesn't have all the perks of its bigger brothers; the 37D90U (37"), 57D90U (57"), and 65D90U (65") models. The larger models feature Sharp's new 4- or 5-wavelength backlight and full-spec 1080p resolution. Thankfully, the 32D50U isn't just a re-packaged 32D40U (Sharp's lower-cost 32" model). For starters there is a broader selection of inputs, including a DVI input for your PC and two IEEE firewire ports for your über high-end digital video equipment. Inside, the 32D50U appears to have stepped-up video - one that has the added ability to down-convert a 1080p signal. Also, the box indicates that the LCD panel is manufactured in Japan - unlike the D40U models that are made in China. Both models are still assembled in Mexico. So what's the result? I've had mine for a couple of weeks, and I've tried it with both HDTV and SD sources from DishTV, Playstation2 component output, DVD component playback, and DVI from my computer. Out of the box the picture was a slight disappointment, but with some adjustments of the ample user-definable settings, I can easily say that this is one of the best LCD televisions I've seen. The panel's response time is incredibly fast - something that you really notice in fast moving action scenes. Furthermore, the often mentioned "red push" seen on the D40U appears to me to be non-existent on this model. On the downside I'm sad to say that the amazingly deep blacks on the new Sharp LCD panels comes at a slight compromise with some detail lost in the darkest areas. Another small complaint I have is in off angle viewing. While Sharp promotes the set as having a 176-degree view angle, I found that being even 20-degrees off the midline had a small, but noticeable impact of the picture; mostly a loss of saturation in darker areas. The styling of the D50U matches the look of 2005's D7U and D6U models. It features a "titanium" finish with a block border around the display, and a bottom-mounted speaker. The real disappointment for me is that the speaker is no longer removable (it remains removable on the 37D90U, 57D90U, and 65D90U). I'm sure this was done as a cost saving feature, but I wish Sharp hadn't messed with that part. The removable speaker was a great touch for those of us with surround sound stereo systems. Also gone is the CableCard slot, but I'm not crying about that. In every other way the LC-32D50U is a good step-up from last year's model. Overall, I'm very happy with my purchase. I find the Sharp LC-32D50U to be a worthy successor to Sharp's 32" widescreen LCD models. The excellent picture quality and deep blacks puts this among the best LCD displays on the market. For just a few hundred dollars more than the D40U, I think it's worth the price for the improved image processor, extra inputs, and more elegant styling. If you're in the market for a 32" LCD HDTV the Sharp LC-32D50U should be at the top of your list.

Strengths: I bought this LCD HDTV on the strength of the Sharp's Aquos line. Since then, it's performance has been nothing short of outstanding.
Weaknesses: None
Summary: 2006-08-29 11:44:28 I'd thought of Sony's XBR line, but this unit blows it away. The dual HDMI ports are a BIG plus as well as all the other ports standard with the unit. Picture Quality is brilliant. The right size for our project. A snap to set up. To put a fine point on it, the Perfect choice.

Strengths: Sharp picture, enough ports, let you hook up as many as your equipment, build-in QAM tuner.
Weaknesses: The minor problem is the ports is not easily accessible. The 32D42U model has this emproved.
Summary: Impressive HD images from built-in QA< tuners. The over-the-air capture of HD signals is better than the analog capture of most analog TV's. The built-in tuners also allow viewing of unscrambled HD cable channels without the need for a cable box. Speakers work well, especially for a slim profile.
You need spend some time to connect your cables. Most of its ports were built on the side of the panal and are half blocked by the edge of the case. If you want to connect your PC via VGA instead of DVI, try to get a convert CABLE. The VGA to DVI adaptor won't even fit in the room left in the TV's DVI port.

Strengths: Sharp, no pun intended, it is a nice looking TV. Tons of outputs.
Weaknesses: Some cables are tough to access, and the blacks dont get quite as dark as the best TV's out there, but certainly not too bad.
Summary: Overall I am very happy with my purchase. It was shipped to me in 3 days and I didn't pay for anything but UPS ground. It works great and for the money I would say it was well worth it. Macmall did me good.

Strengths: Great styling. Fantastic Picture. Quick, User Friendly Set-Up. Easy Remote. Versital Imputs. Fast Picture On.
Weaknesses: Awkward Access To Coax Imputs.
Summary: Your missing the boat if you don't look at this Sharp Aquos 32" LCD TV. It not only looks great, but has unprecedented quality. Perfect fit for my bedroom. I was influenced by the 37" Aquos I have in the living room for over a year now. Don't forget it's use as a PC monitor too ! Super pricing !!! Thank you PriceGrabber! :)

Saved For Months Only To Buy One That Won't Even Turn On..!!
Strengths: N/A
Weaknesses: Obviously the fact that sharp must not have even attempted to bench test this unit before shipping. UPS didn't handle it as well as they could have either as two corners were crushed
Summary: Called MacMall within 2 hrs. of receiving it from UPS.. First CSR told me to call Sharp, & sharp told me to call a service center.. The thought of going through the weeks it could take to get a brand new tv repaired was unbearable so I called MacMall again & Thank God I did.. This time I got a CSR that actually seemed to sympathize with my situation & agreed that a RMA was in Order.. Get this though, they don't send another TV to replace your bad one, they issue a refund but that takes up to 10 days once it's been received in their warehouse..I was offered overnight shipping at a greatly reduced rate if I wanted to order another one but until I get that RMA in my hands I'm hesitate to do anything, plus the thought of putting out another $800 & risking getting another problem tv really scares me..I may just go to Bestbuy as I'm sure I was just lucky that MacMall offered to take it back.. Sad that I saved & compared brands for months only to get one that won't even boot..what to do, what to do..???

Strengths: Seperate inputs for cable and antenna; multiple HD inputs including DVI-I; excellent picture
Weaknesses: Analog inputs inconveniently paired; cable and antenna inputs recessed and difficult to access; bottom-mounted speaker bar is not detachable; can't display 1360x768 resolution from computer
Summary: Generally I am very satisfied, particularly at the favorable prices available now that newer models are here. Two RF inputs, 2 HDMI inputs, 1 DVI-I, 1 component video, 1 s-video, and 2 composite video. However, one composite video is paired with component, and one with s-video, sharing the audio input. Only one source can be connected to each pair, so it's impossible to connect component, s-video, and composite sources directly to the TV at the same time. Fortunately most A/V receivers now upconvert sources as well as switch betwen them. The antenna and cable inputs are recessed and difficult to screw in unless you have very small hands; also some cables that have long connectors and stiff strain relief won't fit in the recess. I connected a computer to the DVI input and it wouldn't display more than 1280x720 resolution; the manual says 1024x768 is the max, so I'm not surprised, but some TVs can display 1360x768 from a computer. I find the HD picture on over-the-air broadcasts excellent. I don't have HD cable yet, but the analog picture looks good, and the Zoom mode is useful for programs that are widescreen letterboxed, filling the screen or close to it. That the speakers aren't detachable isn't unusual, but there are TVs with less obtrusive speakers, if you're using a home theater system.

Strengths: Great design, image quality
Weaknesses: Red tone color, slow response from the remote.
Summary: This was a Sharp top TV in its product line. It offers a great design and image quality. It has ATSC and QAM tuner for digital. DVI is also available for low-loss graphic signal transmission. I have noted the slow response from the remote soon after I got the TV. It has about 1-2 s delay when you make operation from your remote (e.g. change channels). You may find it's annoying. But when you get used to it. It is okay.
