Strengths: - eco-friendly, gamer-friendly
- lightest, smoothest mouse ever
- sleek, black, high tech look
Weaknesses: - scroll wheel tougher and less protruding than typical mouse's
- cannot use your favorite mouse pad with wrist gel, must bring RFID pad along with mouse
Summary: The weaknesses above are not deal-breakers for me, but may be a minus for some. You can find reviews from tech sites by keying "batteryfree review" in Google. The rectangle-shaped pad has a small footprint, a good balance between desktop and laptop usage. Other A4Tech models have bigger or smaller mice and pads. No drivers were necessary, and usage in office applications were jump-free. In FPS games, its precision was satisfying, and after practice, my play became more accurate after compensating to the lack of weight and wire tension, habits that were formed from previous mice. While not a feature, seeing the mouse body's LED turn on during usage is fun and a constant reminder of the energy you're saving by not running on batteries. The instruction manual is correct, the RFID pad will not work if it is placed on metal surfaces, including on top of your laptop. The pad must always be kept level, because the mouse's teflon coating will make it slide off the table, which has happened several times. It is quite indestructible, after two years, it is as good as the first day it was used. Buy this product if you're not very particular about your mouse pad, and are looking for a neat mouse that doesn't cost too much.
