Strengths: Nice styling, bright display, true to life neutral colors
Weaknesses: Volume level differences between Analog and Digital Channels
Summary: 2007-01-17 20:49:39 Unless Philips addresses a few problems, possibly in a future firmware update, I am somewhat reserved on giving this TV a stellar rating.

Here are the problems:

1) After autoprogramming local or weak channels received via antenna, the channels automatically delete from the channel map if channels are tuned during times of weak reception due to inclement weather, interference, or other causes. Autoprogramming needs to be repeated time and time again to remap deleted channels.

2) Weak channel installation rarely seems to work if not at all.

3) Audio is much louder on an analog channel. Tuning between an analog and digital broadcast (or vice versa) becomes annoying.

4) Somewhat long bootup time when powered up. Typically 10-15 secs.

If these little annoyances wouldn't bother you, I would recommend this TV for it's beautiful picture quality alone. It's display is bright and DVD's played on it appear more vivid or lifelike.

3 Star Review26PF5321D/37
Strengths: Bright display. USB Support.
Weaknesses: Channels automatically delete from memory if not found.
Summary: Brought the TV from Walmart. It listed it as having a VGA input which it does not. No big deal to me because I just brought a HDMI to DVI cord for my PC. Works great with my PC. I just wish it had two HDMI inputs. The sound is higher on analog than digital. So if switch between the two you could have some problems. I delete the analog channels anyways, so that's not a problem for me.

There is two big problems I have with television:

1.Channels automatically delete. They have not fix this in a firmware upgrade yet. Customer Support was no help with this. All they did was to talk me through on how to program the TV.

2.The digital sound output seems to be behind the video and regular audio on the the TV.

Strengths: HDMI input, USB support for future upgrades, excelent picture and sound.
Weaknesses: The bottom Stand makes weird noise when the TV is moved (lol), The remote control seemed unresponsive sometimes? weird.
Summary: I must say, i saw this TV at walmart and the box didn't really mention features and stuff like others do, but when i took it out the box....i was blown away with some many features and stuff, it was well worth the $860 i spent, excellent picture quality, sound and its even HDMI ready, many other audio connections and USB for future upgrade, you can even connect a camera or flash USB stick to listen to music or look at pictures! very nice... HD Channels look AWESOME, I'm sure HD-DVD are gonna rock on this TV and a Xbox 360 would look sweet on it. If your looking for a not so small but yet not so big flat panel...this is it!! go get you on right now!

Strengths: Outstanding Picture, PIXEL PLUS ! !, Has Features of more expensive 37" and 42" models, many screen format options,
Weaknesses: Is not advertised as the great TV with all it's technlogy that it has. PixelPlus is line doubling in ALL modes.
Summary: DVDs Fantastic! They look Hi Def! NFL Football over your local TV stations Best HDTV in this 26" size!!

When you get this TV, turn off most all of the video tweaking things in the User Menu except PixelPlus. NR can be set to minimum if you wish. Set Contrast at about 68%, brightness at about 55%, color at about 40 to 44%, and sharpness at about 30% to no more than 38%, and Color Temperature to Normal. With these settings, This TV has the BEST picture, brightness, contrast in it's class! It has the same circuitry as the Philips 37" and 42" comparable PixelPlus models, but on a smaller 26" screen. This means the picture is actually Better because it has the same number of pixels as the larger sets, but distributed over a smaller screen. The result is that it has more pixels (picture elements) per sq. inch of screen, AND PixelPlus line doubling. No other 26" HDTV I know of has this.

This means that you get an excellent picture from even your old video tapes, non Blue Ray DVD,HDTV digital network from your antenna (not satellite!),or ANY video source!

Standard DVD's never looked so vivid, clear, and Hi definition on any other set I've seen.

This is an LCD HDTV, which typicaly doesn't have good ability to display dark picture areas as well as,say, plasma TVs. Unlike most LCD HDTVs, this TV has great clarity and detail, even in dark, shadowy picture areas.

Strengths: Great picture, nice design
Weaknesses: Price was alittle high for a 26". Remote needs a back light
Summary: Went to the local best buy to buy a cheap no brand 26" LCD ended up walking out with the Philips 26" HDTV LCD. Very easy to setup, I have basic boardcast cable, and I still can't get over the picture quality 'A++++++'and all the extra channels I now pick up. I have the TV set up to automatically adjust itself depending on the channel e.g. full, wide or regular screen.

On the third day of enjoy my first LCD the screen went black, the channels were changing up and down but no picture then a red light started to flash, after a hour of trying to work out the problem I decided to take it back to the store, lucky best buys has the 30 day return policy. I did a straight exchange, I am pretty sure it is a one in a million chance this thing could happen. Well it has been just over a month and the philips 26" is going strong, have my most watched channel locked in under my favorites. I also pick-up the Philips DVP642 DVD player to go with it.

I would strongly recommend this LCD, you get what you pay for, and with this HDTV being at the top end of the market it is well worth it.

Strengths: Price, quality, built-in HDTV tuner.
Weaknesses: Lack of 1080p capability, tone controls, DVI input (minor).
Summary: Owned for 1 day and bought locally in DFW, TX for $720. Plugs into my standard antenna and receives all HDTV signals w/o problems in rural area. Some standard definition stations come in very weak, but the corresponding HDTV transmission comes in very clear w/o problems - impressive! Overall a very good deal. Can't wait to get BluRay or HD DVD machine.
