Strengths: Hi-def 14 inch widescreen, 128 meg video card- upgrade, 6 in 1 media card reader, a nice and very comfortable keyboard. Powerful, good, clear and loud speakers. 6 hour battery life with 12 cell
Weaknesses: It warms up a little bit on the left palmrest, but not untolerable. The cd drive is a little flimsy, but it works. the headphone and microphone ports could have been placed in a different spot.
Summary: I love it. It is quiet, speedy, semi efficient (it uses a little bit too much RAM) The keyboard is great, the speakers rock, the screen is hi-def, the touch-pad is designed with a widescreen in mind. It is a great computer. 5-6 hours of basic app. work time on battery. It lasts for 2 DVDs. 40% of battery per movie. If you are doing movie/ audio editing on the road, you can get about 3-4 hours, it all depends on the size, and what you are doing to the file.
Reccommendations-
wait for a few freebies to come up when buying from HP, I got a free wifi card and free shipping. ($100 in savings)
I have seen a $150 instant rebate, free shippong, and a free ram upgrade, so keep your eyes peeled for great deals.
If you work in place where light will reflect off your screen, don't get the brightview screen upgrade. It will make your screen hard to see.
One more thing, there is some software that is installed from the factory, it is junk, just uninstall it. The norton security thing only lasts for 60 days, unless you have a subscription.
