Strengths: Very powerful, very fast, can handle ice with no problems, unlikely to break
Weaknesses: Only two speeds, loud, can be TOO strong
Summary: This thing feels more at home on the workbench in your garage than in your kitchen. It is big and powerful, and you definitely feel it. We broke our last blender at home from making too many smoothies with ice, so we opted for this "professional" model this time around. Even Oster's regular beehive models are known for being long lasting and extremely reliable, so we're expecting even more out of this tougher model - with Oster's most powerful motor and an all-metal drive. I will start off by saying that this blender can puree ANYTHING. It does not disappoint. No more putting in ice cubes one at a time! Ice only takes several seconds, so if you like your margaritas chunky a few gentle pulses is all you need. Timing can be tricky with such a powerful blender and only two speeds - high and a slightly lower pulse. Using it the first few times, I actually had some problems making a nice smooth shake. The ice was quickly pushed to the sides by the high speeds and the blade was simply spinning in an air pocket. The problem was I had too many fruits, ice, and solids in the blender and not enough liquids. (I think I broke the cardinal rule of blending - liquids first) In addition, trying to make a small volume in this unit can also cause the same problem. You really need a tall column of fluid in the glass jar pushing down, otherwise you won't get a nice vortex. This unit does NOT work as a food processor - it will simply push the solids away. I think the blender is more susceptible to this because there is no low speed setting. So in conclusion, this unit works best when you really fill up the jar. It's meant to work on a large scale in bars and restaurants, and that's what it does best. I've gotten the hang of it now and I would definitely get this model again, hands down. The power is absolutely worth it - it's quick, strong, and you don't need to coddle it.

Strengths: blends ice with ease, easy to operate, easy to clean, user-friendly
Weaknesses: noisy (what blender isn't?), little heavy, only two speeds-low and high
Summary: I was using a cheap blender before this one that would only accept maybe 2-3 cubes of ice and didn't blend them that well. This new blender can take a lot of ice-have only tried about 9-and it works so well that sometimes I can't even taste the crunch of ice with the smoothies I make. I have made about 20-30 smoothies with this blender and am very satisfied.

Strengths: Excellent ice crusher, easy two speed control, interesting beehive design, powerful.
Weaknesses: A little on the loud side.
Summary: I was looking for a replacement for an old blender that never seemed to get the job done. If I was crushing ice for a drink, there would always be a couple of chunks that never seemed to disappear. I read a lot of reviews on this model so I decided to check it out. Well, there is no question this blender should be high on anyone's list. It's extremely powerful with a 1/2 horsepower motor. Anything that you place in this unit doesn't stand a chance. Smoothies come out just right without any leftover chunks of fruit or ice. The only downside is the sound level. Once you start this thing up, you can forget about having a conversation. But, what do you expect? I think this is a small price to pay for excellent performance. Check this unit out. You'll be glad you did.

Strengths: simple to operate, straightforward, powerful dealing with ice, easy to clean
Weaknesses: loud
Summary: It's immediately usable after I open the package. It's power enough to crash the ice, I should say sometimes it's too powerful that even no ice piece left. It's very straightforward to use. I love the simple one button design, since I never use all different speed for other blenders. I love the feeling of glass jar. It's also convenient to store the rest in refrigerator. Also it's very easy to clean without worry of color dye.
It's loud, but it's the same for all blenders. It's big, but it looks classic, not bulky feeling. For the price, I'm very happy that I picked this instead of VitaMix.

This is a high quality product that has the power to blend everything I've thrown at it so far. Strengths: Great for icy drinks, shakes, and smoothies - no solids seem to escape the blades. Gear tooth assembly is metal-to-metal. Looks good. Glass jar. Reasonably priced (under $50).
Weaknesses: OK, it's loud. The glass jar is relatively small. Maybe a problem for some - it has only one steady speed (fast and loud) and one pulse speed.
Summary: I use blenders almost exclusively for icy drinks, milk shakes, and smoothies. This is ideal for one or two servings. In addition to the performance, I wanted durability. I like the fact that Oster uses metal (rather than rubber or plastic teeth) for their drive coupling.

Strengths: powerful and only 2 speeds
Weaknesses: big and noisy
Summary: 2007-11-16 05:08:57 I was going to buy one of the cheapie blenders, until I saw some positive reviews online for this model. It seemed to be a good balance between quality and price, in other words, true value. It is big and noisy, but it sure does do its job. It quickly turns ice cubes into fine "snow."
