Strengths: Easy to install, very straight forward to hooking the antenna up. Fast connections speeds right off the bat when I tried it at my neighbors house. Also has a good range.
Weaknesses: I have big fingers and the card was installed in the last pci slot so it was near the bottom of the computer. The card isn't cheap, a little expensive! Install software is trouble I read.
Summary: 2007-02-21 06:48:33 This card is great. I have had it running for 2 months now since I purchased it and I have not had a problem with it yet. I did some research on what type of card to purchase and I was led to this Linksys WMP300N card. The card is a bit expensive but I think in the long run it will be the better choice over another brand or card. I can't wait to take it down to the beach and see what it does at our beach place. That is the reason I bought it.

One thing though I should pass along. I did some research and was told that you should not install the software that came with it, rather to install the card and then install the updated driver from Linksys.

All in all, I highly recommend this card to anybody! This was my first experience messing with wireless and boy was it an easy one. No troubles at all!

2 Star ReviewDevil in the details...
Strengths: Good range, both horizontal and vertical. Get reception of 61% two floors down in opposite corner of basement when using linksys made Wireless-n receiver.
Weaknesses: The driver can cause serious issues with your system ranging from a complete hang, to audio/video popping and crackling. Even the new driver on the website does not completely address this issue
Summary: I was initially pleased with the ease of setup and the range and speed improvement over my old wireless G network. Then I noticed that the audio/video on my receiving computer (Using the WMP300N PCI DESKTOP CARD) had become choppy and static. After days of rollbacks and uninstalls I traced it to the linksys driver for the WMP300N. To make matters worse, the uninstall for this does not work properly and leaves keys in the registry which prevent the new driver from installing without some geek activities that might be daunting to the average user. Then the new driver after I finally got it installed, was much better but not completely fixed. As a former driver developer I noticed that the new driver solution for the problem was simply to saturate the PCI bus with data! The computer equivalent of talking faster and louder so no one else can get a word in edgewise! If you attempt to run other intensive data applications such as gaming, or video rendering applications, this "solution" will cause your computer to hang. Microsoft would NEVER certify a driver written like this.

Since the value of this router in terms of range and speed, depends on the use of Linksys’ own desktop receiver solution, the overall system you set up is severely flawed and I cannot and would not recommend it.

I do not know if the laptop receiver card exhibits the same behavior.

Strengths: N-band wireless is fast. N-band wireless goes farther. Corded antenna.
Weaknesses: Still N-draft. Costs more than D-Link version.
Summary: It's a great PCI adapter. It did take a bit of force to install it, but once it went it, it was gravy. Unfortunately the whole "install driver before installing PCI adapter" is a bit skewed since if you ever need to reformat, it's impractical to do that. Otherwise it's pretty good altogether.

Strengths: Has a great range compared to my old wireless-G card and is faster.
Weaknesses: Trouble installing on older computer but works great now.
Summary: I would highly recommend this product. It is a great buy for the money. This is significantly faster than the older Wireless-G products.I love Linksys products and this is another example of a great one.

2 Star ReviewWouldn't recommend WMP300N
Strengths: Antenna attached via cord which allows even the most obscure placement of your PC to receive a wireless signal.
Weaknesses: Need some technical know-how to install. Lots of problems right out of the box. Intermittent connection issues
Summary: Unfortunately, I purchased this card after reading the reviews and linksys.com forums. Although this card is functional with some tweaking and technical know-how, it is still giving me intermittent connection problems. For a week or so it'll work great with 54 - 48 mbps connection and then some days the thing just drops to 5.5 mbps or 11 mbps. When it works, it works well but it's always frustrating when your equipment goes on the fritz. Avoid the cheap price tag and buy something with less issues.

3 Star ReviewLinksys WMP300N wireless adapter card review
Strengths: Relatively simple to install.
Weaknesses: Pricey. Not sure if it is going to be compatible with draft 2 of IEEE standard.
Summary: Pretty nice product. The antenna is smaller than I expected but it is alright. The size makes it easy to find a decent location to place it. A longer cable connecting the antenna to the card would be nice.

Strengths: Great antenna that can be placed in a offset location for better signal strenght.
Weaknesses: The antenna is somehwat of an odd shape and doesn't standup good.
Summary: The Linksys WMP300N Wireless-N PCI Adapter card is a great addition to your network if you have a Wireless-N router. The antenna has a long enough cable to place the base on a desk if you have your computer on the floor. Running in a Wireless-N network this card gets great speeds. I've never run this network card in a Vista environment but in Windowx XP it runs smooth.

Strengths: Works with vista ultimate x64! Great connectivity! No dropped signals! Strong signal connection.
Weaknesses: Pricey, but not overly so for N technology.
Summary: After buying and returning several wireless network products, including ones that cost even more money, I found this one that works! A quick visit to linksys website gave me the current vista drivers and they installed without a hitch! This is one of the very few products that I have actually been able to use with Vista without problems!

3 Star ReviewGood, reliable adapter
Strengths: Trouble-free operation
Weaknesses: Signal strength not consistent (with WRT150N router), tricky installation for Vista
Summary: This is installed in a new Dell desktop running Vista (located in the basement) and communicates with the WRT150N router in a Dell Desktop (located in the manin floor of my ranch house) running XP Home. My signal strength is at two towers most of the time. However, this has not affected my access as I am not a heavy internet user (no movie downloads, only some music downloads and watching some on-line music videos). Getting the correct driver for Vista from their web site was not straightforward. I got the wrong driver first and did not realize it as Vista had some other driver which worked with this adapter. I got the correct driver myself without help from the tech support which is poor. My signal stregth is still not consistent but I do get over 108Mbps speed most of the time.

Strengths: strong single, easy to setup
Weaknesses: too much techy look, doesn't fit in my decoration
Summary: it's a great product, and the extended altena really picks up the signal well, no complains at all, replaced my dwa-552 wireless card, which is on ebay now.

For the price and performace, there is nothing I can complain

Strengths: Ease of installation, quick configuration and fast signal acquisition
Weaknesses: None to date
Summary: The ONLY thing I could find to complain about is that the sticker on the back of the PCI card is upside down. Other than that it's a great, little antenna/PCI card.
