Strengths: -MP3 & WMA Function w/ ID tag support
-Ability to grow as a system (I.E. Sirius & HD Radio ready, CD Changer Controls, adjustment to better suit different types of speakers)
-Easy To Operate Remote
Weaknesses: -Graphic Display is nothing to write home about-- (but still better than many in same price range)
-On Mp3: The option to play 'Random/Shuffle' feature on multiple folders *together* is not avaliable
Summary: No regrets at all with this purchase. I would whole hearted recommend it to any of my friends.
The Display:
There are some players with flasher displays out there, but quite honestly that novelty is cool for only a short while anyway. I'm not going to be looking at the display when it's on because I'll be driving and have my eyes on the road and my mirrors. Having said that-- the display buttons that are used for the radio station pre-sets double as cd/mp3 disc function keys like random/scan/repeat etc. and are difficult to read while driving. It's easier just to remember what each number does than to read it. Not a difficult task, but it would have been nice if the lettering was somehow bigger in that area. The display buttons come lit in red out of the box, but I was happy to find I could adjust them to green to match the rest of my car. The contrast of the display as well as how busy you want the display to be can also be tweaked.
MP3/WMA Functions:
Mp3 tracks do not take very long to read-- song and artist info scrolls across the screen within the 1st 4 secs of the track's play. A quick press of the right side buttons and album & folder name can also be displayed or the time of day if that's your preference.
Sound:
I still have my factory speakers, but even so I can tell the sound is powerful and pretty crystal clear for the range of my speakers. Sound can be tweaked to best fit the type of speakers you have installed so that's a real plus.
Security:
There is an added security feature that askes you to set up a pin type code making it unusable if stolen. Comes with a detachable face plate as well which is pretty standard these days.
The Remote:
I love the remote! It's shaped to not hurt your hand when you grip it and features a button that lowers the sound with a press of a button. So when you're pulling up to a drive through speaker you can just press it, make your order, and then with another quick press the sound returns to the same nice volume you had previously adjusted it to. No more fiddling around with the controls. (This function is also handy when your cell phone rings, or you pull up next to a police officer.) This may be a personal preference, but I much prefer this is muting things all together, especially when I have passangers, I just think it's more considerate.
Overall a great buy and enough features to make this a player you'll be using for years.
