Strengths: Fast and brews coffee at hot temp.
Weaknesses: cost, no bells and whistles
Summary: I owned my original Bunn for 4 years before it died from use. I love coffee and this is the only coffee machine for me. If you notice, it has no "extra's", never goes on sale and yet still holds its appeal, Why? Because it rocks!

1 Star ReviewBack to the Drawing Board
Strengths: Fast
Weaknesses: Stock up on cleaning supplies
Summary: 2006-12-29 15:55:58 First use requires filling the tank and waiting for it to heat, the tank is always full and it runs all the time to get the 3 min. brew. When you brew you replace the water from the tank.

My first use, I read and followed the instructions, it brew about 4 cups and then leaked the remaining 6 cups of grounds over the counter and floor as it overflowed the brewing hopper, no real way to stop it.

Now maybe this requires some certain grind of coffee or some special filter or something, but making a cup of coffee shouldn't be that hard.

Back in the box it went.

Try some other one, this one is junk IMHO

Strengths: This is hands-down the best coffee maker I've ever owned. I don't know how anybody could mess up coffee with this maker. It's so simple and it's extra fast. No more having to set a timer for coffee
Weaknesses: none
Summary: If going on vacation or not using the maker for several days, it's a good idea to turn the switch off which keeps the water in the reservoir hot. Water will evaporate noticeable after 3 days of nonuse, so watch for that particular aspect of this otherwise fine coffee maker. Oh, works great for tea also.

Strengths: Once you get it running (in other words after you fill it and let it heat up the reservoir), it makes incredible quantities of coffee virtually instantly
Weaknesses: As one of the other raters said, if you don't follow the instructions, it can overflow the pitcher if you don't use the right grind of coffee
Summary: I have mine for 19 years (nineteen years!) and it keeps on running and running and running. I have several machines in three different houses, and when I get to the house with this one I am so happy. Once the water reservoir heats up and you keep it plugged in you have enough hot water instantly to make several 8 cup carafes in a row if you so wish. It also sprays the water over the grains so they all brew through and through instead of many of the others--including the really expensive ones--that just pour water on top and hope for the best.
