The Nokia 7380....The gem of the cellphone world...
Strengths: Sleek, sexy design, Halfway decent camera, intuitive menus, customizable, bluetooth, GSM.
Weaknesses: Internal battery, sometimes freezes, can't customize voice-dialing, mirror finish means constant cleanning of phone for fingerprints, navi-wheel is a hassle at times, no infrared.
Summary: The Nokia 7380. Hated by many. Loved by few. When I was looking for a replacement phone, I became instantly drawn to the unique looks and somewhat innovative technologies of this phone.
Upon first glance, I knew this phone was an eyecatcher. Its mirror finish hides a small screen that can only be revealed when the backlight lights up. This phone was actually made for nightime use, since sunlight can actually reflect off the mirror finish and make viewing the screen impossibly hard.
Let's dive into the features of this phone! First, one thing that this phone has is Bluetooth, which really helps in data syncing and also plays an important part in the customization of this phone. This phone also includes a xHTML browser, for light browsing of the internet via GSM. This phone can also take 2-megapixel pictures, and the navi-spinner/wheel serves as a zoom for the camera. There is also a night mode and a flash for dark situations. The navi-spinner, the Nokia 7380's unique feature is not unlike an iPod wheel. It's used to scroll through menus and also for text messaging and dialing numbers. Since there is no keypad on this phone, dialing and text messaging is a hassle. To dial or enter text, one must use the navi-spinner to scroll through a list of letters or numbers. This can become tedious, especially during text messaging. On average, I spend about 5 minutes writing a text message of roughly 6 words.
Another feature of this phone is its capability to play MP3s. However with its limited 52 MB space, it looks like you'll be better off with a seperate MP3 player.
However, you can't beat this phone on looks. It is a definite eyecatcher and something that each fashionista should have in his/her collection.
