Strengths: Multiple recording formats. Picture fine tuning. Multiple inputs including stereo audio.
Weaknesses: Playback with included software is lacking volume EQ adjustments.
Summary: This is a great TV tuner card. I build laptops for a living and have installed several of these on my customer's laptops. The picture is excellent, but it takes several adjustments in the recording tab to get the picture quality just right. I have found that the best setting for a pentium 3 laptop running a 1.2GHz CPU and 1 gig of memory from a S-Video jack connected to satellite TV is MPEG-2, 320 x 240, 29.97 frame rate, Normal quality, 5000 bitrate and fastest encoding speed. This produces a clear fluid picture with no "jerky" motions. I prefer to use Cyberlink Power DVD 6 and above for playback though, because you can fine tune the sound via the equalizer settings and also the picture. I noticed the volume in the included player is not very loud, but if you playback the recorded material in Cyberlink PowerDVD with some good quality USB powered speakers the sound is awesome!
