Strengths: S-IPS panel,
relatively low price,
a full range of physical adjustments: tilt, height, pivot, and swivel;
4 inputs: VGA, DVI, S-video, composite
Weaknesses: little loss of really dark details,
backlight non-uniformity (lighter in the corners)
Summary: Nice monitor, have S-IPS matrix, which mean that you really have 178 degree viewing angle and perfect colors. Contrast is not very high, though. Films looks great on this widescreen monitor, text easy to read, and games runs smooth too. The comparable NEC 20WMGX2 cost at least $100 more, so it's up to you which one to choose. I choose Dell :)

Strengths: 1)EXCELLENT picture quality
2)4 inputs (VGA, DVI, S-Video, & Composite)
3)Picture-In-Picture & Picture-By-Picture
4)4 USB Ports
Weaknesses: NONE
Summary: 2006-06-14 21:03:30 i got a great price w/ free shipping... only paid about $350 w/tax... best picture quality.... comes with cables... very stable stand... no dead pixels... i would reccomend buying this because it is backed with a standard 3-year warranty & it comes from a brand you can trust (not a never-heard-of company)...

Strengths: Bright, sharp, lightweight, plenty of screen real estate
Weaknesses: None that I've seen
Summary: This is an excellent monitor. I was looking for a widescreen flat panel to edit large digital images and this appears to fit the bill. No stuck/dead pixels and everything works fine. The stand holds the monitor without wobbling and the connections are easy. I'm sharing this monitor with two computers via a KVM switch so it's connected analog rather than digital (couldn't find a digital KVM that would support 1680x1050) but I can't imagine the picture being any sharper with a digital connection. I work on still images (I'm not a gamer), so I don't need a monitor for high-end gaming video. I bought this monitor the day after Dell lowered their price $80 and it looks like a very sweet deal.

Looks nice
Strengths: USB, variety of inputs
Weaknesses: Died after 10 minutes of use ("made in mexico")
Summary: It was either this or the Viewsonic 2025WM. I went with the Dell because it was adjustable and had USB and S-video inputs. Ten minutes after turning it on, it buzzed, flickered and shut off. Turning it on produced the same effect. I got 10 minutes of use on this monitor. I'm using a VX2025WM now.

Strengths: Everything about it.
Weaknesses: None, so far
Summary: I did a lot of research before making my purchase. I am not disappointed. This is my first LCD flat screen monitor and I only bought one. If I had more space I would expand and purchase another one.

Strengths: Super bright colors, clarity and resolution are awesome, usb ports on side
Weaknesses: None.
Summary: As a staunch CRT graphics person, I was kinda iffy about this purchase. I am so pleased with this purchase. This monitor is outstanding. There are buttons on the lower right corner that are easy to manuver/navigate and the usb ports on the lower right edge are very convienient. The resolution is wonderful with my photogrammetry work. Now I have room on my desk for other items besides the CRT! You won't be dissappointed with this monitor.

Strengths: Aesthetically pleasing, 4 port USB 2.0 hub included (2x in back, 2x on right side), height adjustable, able to rotate to portrait view, able to rotate side-to-side, 3 year warranty included
Weaknesses: Some kind of speckling effect on bright colors (hard to explain), needs a somewhat powerful system to run games at native resolution (1680x1050)
Summary: Coming from a 15" LCD, this monitor was a huge step up. High resolution widescreen (1680x1050) lets you use photo editing tools much easier than before. It also lets you watch movies at a much larger size since they are always restricted on width and not height.
After ordering the monitor on the main Dell site on a Saturday, I received it on Wednesday. The box was quite light (much lighter than any CRT box. After unpacking it, there was not much to set up. Attach the stand to the screen and plug in the monitor to the computer and power outlet. At first I thought the stand would be weak, but it is solidly built of metal rather than plastic.
Pictures are very vibrant if you are using DVI. If you are using a VGA connection, you will not see very high picture quality. Also, I have yet to see any ghosting in any of my RTS or FPS games. Those of you who are concerned about the 16ms response rate should not be scared.
Overall, I'm very pleased with my purchase. This monitor may cost about $50 more than some of its competitors, but I certainly think the Pros (as listed above) are worth the extra money. And despite what anyone says, in my experience, Dell customer service is very good.

Strengths: Large viewing area, much lighter and more portable than my old CRT
Weaknesses: Backlights are a little strong and wash out the darks a bit, not the best resolution choices for 4:3 mode
Summary: This is my first LCD monitor and I'm glad I settled only for the best. I previously was using two 19" CRTs, and have since replaced my main CRT for this beautiful 20" widescreen LCD. The side by side comparison between the two is like night and day. My CRT is dull, dim, and very hard on the eyes, while the LCD is bright, colorful and quite a pleasure to look at. As far as I can tell there are no dead or stuck pixels. I use it primarily for gaming and watching movies and it exceeds my expectations for both. The colors are accurate and bright, and there is no noticable ghosting at all. However, the backlighting washes out the corners slightly. This is a minor drawback and can't really be seen unless viewing a darker image. Another, more frustrating shortcoming is the lack of higher resolutions for the 4:3 aspect ratio option. While widescreen is great for browsing the internet and watching movies, not all games support widescreen and I'm forced to run them in lower resolutions for the proper aspect ratio. However, it is such a hassle to switch to 4:3 that I usually just run games in widescreen and deal with the slightly stretched image.

Summary: Good widescreen monitor. No dead pixels and worked fine right out of the box. After the Dell lowered the price this is one of the best deal price/quality on the market.

Strengths: Great picture quality, 16:10 widesreen display, Good value.
Weaknesses: NA
Summary: I use the monitor mostly for gaming, DVD playback and web surfing. Currently I am playing Oblivion and the world is bright, sharp and clear. Even the dark areas show more contrast and detail than my old monitor. Set-up was easy and so far no dead pixels. Two thumbs up for this monitor.

Strengths: features, setting, DVI, and the widescreen format
Weaknesses: Out of the box had orange tint for skin tones
Summary: 2006-07-16 11:24:11 Read the review in PCworld and gave me information on adjusting out the orange. Compared side by side with my old CRT Viewsonic top of the line 21" $1350.00 monitor ( 1998 dollars ) and tuned in the color to exactly match. The pictures are now in sync with the CRT. The LCD is just a little more bright then the old CRT but the CRT is getting old and has come miles on it. The Dell experience was very good. Item arrived ahead of date given. satisfied.

Strengths: Awesome picture quality; Large viewing area; low price.
Weaknesses: none so far
Summary: This monitor is awesome. I mostly held back from getting a widescreen monitor because I was afraid that I would not be able to run games at the high native resolution but FEAR extraction point looks pretty sweet on it @1024 x728. In regular desktop use you would not even know its an LCD. Its much better than my old 19" Samsung LCD.

Strengths: Color, brightness, stability, user friendliness. Looks awesome when watching movies.
Weaknesses: None as of yet
Summary: I sold my Dell 1907fp to get this one, boy was it worth it. The colors are rich and vibrant, the space is breathless as well as unmistakenly match to that of a crt. I was so excited about this monitor that I took it to my nite job still in the box and I'm using it right now at my work. It's just awesome, you can't go wrong. Great job Dell.
