Strengths: Nice overall layout, lightweight, great screen, amazing ancillary features like fingerprint reader, software, etc.
Weaknesses: Battery life could be longer...it comes with a standard 6 cell battery (3 1/2 hours), but you can purchase a 9 cell or 12 cell battery for extended battery life up to 5 1/2 hours.
Summary: I got an incredible "deal" on this laptop which was on sale at both Office Depot and Fry's recently for $949.

I had planned to buy the larger 15" version of this laptop

at Office Depot which they had priced at $799. After schmoozing a bit with the Technology Manager...he said because it was on clearance he could let me have the

smaller 14" version for $749.

(In store price...no mail in rebate necessary)

I was shocked and said "Sold" because I had done my research on the Internet and I preferred the smaller

14" screen and lighter weight for mobility reasons, and to get (find) another 14" laptop with these same components and configuration would currently cost you

on average $1200.

The reviews I read on this 'Satellite' were good...and after playing with this laptop for the last week, I have to agree. The fingerprint scanner works very well and is easy to setup. The Media Center "quick launch" feature is great. You can watch a DVD in seconds.

The only REAL complaint (and it's a minor one) is that it doesn't come with a "physical" operating manual.

The Operating Manual is on the Hard Drive of the Laptop itself so you have to scroll through it or print it out

on your own and it's some 300+ pages.

(This is standard however today in the computer biz)

Overall it strikes me as a terrific laptop loaded with the latest technology. If you can get this laptop for $ 1000 or less you are getting a real bargain in my opinion.

I paid $ 750 for mine...and the price of the components alone cost that much unassembled, so I may have actually purchased this laptop BELOW cost.

Strengths: Style & Design , Fingerprint reader, Size(fits my Kensington backpack like it was made for it), USB ports up the wazoo, did i mention style?, SD card reader
Weaknesses: A little heavier than i would have preferred, graphics capabilities are week, too much unnecessary software already installed, it be nice if the remote was included, same for video cable, mic sucks
Summary: I just got this notebook and so far I am very happy with it. It looks amazing. I had spent sometime playing with the fingerprint reader and its very cool(might get bored from it soon though). The screen is great. Has a very wide viewing angle. Battery life seem it be pretty good. Didn't have time to test it yet. It seems to be a great but for the price. If you want something stylish and versatile get it.

Strengths: Compact, good price for the specs provided
Weaknesses: very sensitive touch pad, no built in mic and camera
Summary: My first laptop since 1997. Saw that it has a high review on all consumer and expert opinions. Not able to test how good it is since I just got it two days ago. I used to have a Toshiba satellite laptop and it didn't give me any major problems. So I got another Toshiba laptop hoping this one will do the same for me.
