Strengths: Plays USB thumb drives Optional Ipod adapter
Weaknesses: No known weaknesses from what i've experienced.
Summary: This is a great car stereo in my opinion. No more scratched CD's in the car. This stereo plays everything from WMA's to USB thumb drives. Since having this i've yet to have to play a CD. I just pop my thumb drive in the USB port and let it play. I had this installed in my 97 Nissan Maxima. It's a great fit for cars that have a big factory stereo. It fit right into the same area as the factory stereo without any of the useless trays or "dummy" plates.

Strengths: Great sound even at low volume. At high volume, this head unit rocks! It's monitor color and easy control knobs are cool and well-thought out.
Weaknesses: When the sun shines down on the faceplate, you won't be able to see the monitor display for those few seconds.
Summary: I purchased this model because I needed a double-DIN head unit to replace the factory radio in my 1990 Toyota Celica GT-S. The DPX-501 is an outstanding investment for it's price and capabilities. Since it has a constant 22 watts RMS, I have quite enough power now to enjoy the bright highs and deep lows of the tweeters, midrange speakers, and subwoofers in my car. The various controls even allow me to adjust the specific speaker frequency ranges in order to contour-match the acoustics of my car. The CD player and tuner are flawless, though I haven't yet used the USB port that comes with the unit for MP3, WMA, and AAC playbacks. The only drawback I see is that ,in bright sunlight, with the sun's rays falling on the head unit, I am unable to see the monitor display. Otherwise, this is a great head unit! Even my third party professional installer thinks so!
