Strengths: Long battery life. Smooth scroll wheel.
Weaknesses: Signal strength. Side button location.
Summary: I bought this wireless laser mouse at a low price after rebate. Overall it is a very good mouse.
It is symmetrical to fit both right and left handed users. It is comfortable but being a right handed user, I believe a model like Laser Mouse 6000 provides a slightly better fit.
The scroll wheel is very smooth and quiet, like in other Microsoft models. The battery is supposed to last 6 months, which is very good.
The magnifier is a handy feature. However, the side button to activate the magnifier is too easily pressed accidentally.
The signal strength seems a little weak. The mouse is only a couple feet from the receiver but the weak signal warning pops up every few days. It still works without any problem but it makes me wonder. May be I just have too many other interfering electronic items on my desk.

Strengths: Laser technology
Weaknesses: Sometimes not accurate
Summary: This is a great wireless laser mouse for everyday use! Two batteries last for a long time, and the design of the mouse is very comfortable. It works well even without the software. But I find that those two buttons on the side are sometimes annoying and they are quite sensitive. Besides, the RF receiver will lose the signal randomly, which makes the mouse suddenly move slower. So this mouse might not be a good choice for gaming. Other than that, this is a good product.

Strengths:
Nice design with easy and comfortable
Weaknesses: left and right side clicking buttons mounted high on the mouse & the anoyance message
Summary: First of all, it is very nice looking, comfort, and easy to use. Secondly, it took me only 2 minutes to install the software and it runs smoothly. However, the message "The signal is weak" is annoyance, even it is only 8" from the receiver. Finally, I am happy with the purchase and really enjoy the new mouse.

Strengths: 1000 dpi sensor, 4way scroll, wireless.
Weaknesses: The receiver is USB only. Not very comfortable grip.
Summary: This mouse is a 1000 dpi laser mouse, however, I didn't really seem much improvement over my old Wireless Explorer 2.0. The fact it has higher resolution makes the mouse cursor move faster and requires adjustment.
Grip was not as comfortable as Wireless Explorer 2.0. It seems it was designed with left handed people in mind, where Wireless Explorer 2.0 was made only for right handed people. But because of that, it doesn't really fit my hand.
The receiver can only be pluged into a USB port.
The mouse is competible with old Wireless Explorer 2.0 receiver, which support with USB and PS/2 interface. I'm not sure if using old receiver makes the mouse respond any slower, but I didn't feel any difference.

Microsoft Laser Mouse 5000
Strengths: Works well and is precise, easy setup
Weaknesses: Looses signal qaulity easily, does not work well with Windows Media Center. Easy to activate right side button inadvertently.
Summary: I have two of the 5000's, one at work and one at home. Both seem to warn of low signal on occasion but not a big deal. The one at work is great and convenient with option buttons on the side. The one for home on my Windows Media Center Edition computer stops the screensaver from operating. Apparently this is a common problem and Microsoft suggested a fix that didn't work. The fix did stop me from being able to use the dvd player. Come on Microsoft, they're both your products !!!

Strengths: Accurate, easy to use and install, works well
Weaknesses: no battery indicator light, kind of big
Summary: This has been a great mouse overall. I use it for gaming and I even bought a second one as a gift. I wish it had more programmable buttons, a battery indicator light, and was a little more sleek looking but it works great as is. USB wirless station is a little big but not different from other Microsoft mice I've had. I wish it was little like the size of a thumb drive.

Strengths: Precise, comfortable
Weaknesses: None so far
Summary: I bought this mouse for a decent price after rebate. The mouse is pretty good responsive and the scroll wheel is very smooth. I have used many mice before but this scroll wheel is one of the smoothest of all the mice I had. The battery life seems to be long (used already two months and still using). Overall this is a decent mouse.

Strengths: Looks, Battery Life, Price ($20 after rebate)
Weaknesses: Signal stregth, Tilt Wheel.
Summary: I got this mouse for $20 after rebate. And, for the price, I can't complain. It does what it supposed to do flawlessly. However, it is not perfect. The tilt wheel feels very clumsy and the signal strength could be better. Overall, it is a nice mouse, but definitely not the best.

It's O.K., but not perfect
Strengths: Comfortable feel: I have arthritis with some joint deformity in my hands, so mouse shape and comfort is an issue for me.
Weaknesses: Battery life: maybe I'm doing something wrong, but I've gone through 2 sets of batteries already.
Layout of side buttons: sometimes I accidently hit a button, activating the magnifier, it's annoying.
Summary: My cheap but serviceable infrared (IR) wireless mouse started going haywire, so I thought I'd take a step-up with this; besides, the price was right after sale and rebates. I really liked the promised features of this mouse. This device does require a USB connection. I had a Microsoft USB to mouseport adapter, but it didn't work, so I needed to free up a USB port. The receiver to mouse connection is RF (radio frequency), not IR, so positioning it line-of-sight is not required, but it helps. When I first started using this device, the on screen pointer was very erratic. I discovered that the laser from the bottom of the mouse works best on a dark, SOLID colored surface (like a wooden desktop). I dumped the mouse pad (which you really only need for "ball-mice", but old habits die hard) and have not had any more problems with pointer control. Battery life may be a problem, despite the advertised "6+ months of battery life." After a few days, the mouse pointer abruptly froze and refused to move. I tried everything including rebooting, reconnecting and repositioning. Once I replaced the supplied-in-the-box batteries with new batteries, everything worked fine again, so I initially wrote it off to old batteries (my battery tester said they were dead). About a week later, the same thing happened again. This time I took the batteries out of the mouse, then put them back in and the mouse resumed working, however, battery power in the "new" batteries is now low. Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but having to change batteries every week is not really acceptable; I'll see what happens in the next few weeks. The mouse button functions can be customized, which is good, but I find it's too easy to accidentally click on either of the side buttons, activating whatever feature is programmed. For example, sometimes I suddenly find myself looking at a magnified view, it can be annoying.

Strengths: Programmable buttons. Magnifier feature
Weaknesses: Operates no more than 3 feet from receiver, otherwise it works great.
Summary: I like this one so far. Tried the 1000 series set and the mouse scroll wheel started skipping. ( tried 2 units-so stay away from that one). Magnifier is great. Adjustable scroll speed is nice-I can get to the bottom of a page quickly. Throw the disc away and download the latest intellipoint software from microsoft. If this one screws up, I'll go back to Logitech for good.

Strengths: Accurate, fast, lots of features.
Weaknesses: no much range but ok for using at your desk.
Summary: I don't know about the battery life yet but everything else I am happy with. This was a great buy for $20. Lots of programable buttons and lazer technology is better than optical.

Strengths: wireless, feel, and wheel.
Weaknesses: sometimes complains about the wireless signal strength.
Summary: Just recently moved from a wire to a wireless laser mouse and I really like it. The range seems to be okay and it seems to be solidly built. I had no problem installing the software and customizing it to my satisfaction. I did have to reduce the pointer speed a couple of notches as the default setting was too fast for me. Overall I like it.
