1 Star ReviewPIECE OF CRAP
Strengths: IT LOOKS LIKE A GOOD MACHINE
Weaknesses: MADE VERY CHEAP
Summary: WE HAVE OWNED IT FOR 6 MONTHS AND IT GIVES AND ERROR CODE OF 2. CALLED KITHCEN AID AND THEY MENTIONED IT DISCONTINUED BUT THEY WILL NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. THE GIRL (JESSICA) TOLD ME THAT ERR 2 MEANS THAT THERE IS NOTHING I CAN DO WITH THE MACHINE. ON THE WEBSITE IT TALKS ABOUT A QUICK REPLACEMENT OF PRODUCT - THAT SEEMS TO BE A HOAX. NO MORE KITCHEN AID IN MY HOUSE!!

1 Star ReviewKitchenaide Dud
Strengths: Stylish
Weaknesses: Heating element insufficient, needs frequent cleaning
Summary: Makes all coffee taste nearly the same due to the heating element not heating the water enough to extract coffee flavor. I always use pre-filtered water when making coffee and this machine would frequently make half the amount you put into it and need cleaning more often than any other coffee maker I have ever used. Just for funnies, I pulled out my old coffee maker and had a hot, richly flavored cup of coffee once again. Kitchenaide sure bombed on this product.

Strengths: Good looks,great tasting coffee
Weaknesses: Need to heat up the carafe by rinsing with hot water before brewing.
Summary: We really like the maker. I'm not sure why (java shower?) but it does make the best tasting coffee of any maker we have had. The carafe keeps the coffee hot for a long time but you do need to rinse it with hot water first. It has worked as advertised.

2 Star ReviewThermal carafe's only MODESTLY thermal!
Strengths: Styling, permanent filter, makes GOOD coffee!
Weaknesses: Thermal carafe
Summary: I've had this machine for a bit over a year. While the freshly-brewed coffee is hot, it doesn't stay that way for long. Even filling the carafe with very hot water and letting it sit for a few minutes has little effect. Also, that practice tends to frustrate one's desire to set the timer so that one can arise to freshly brewed coffee.

I've seen this complaint on other sites, but I've now asked KitchenAid for help. The problem appears to have worsened over the year, and it's not due to rough treatment! I handwash this thing and have never dropped it or dinged it in any fashion. If KitchenAid doesn't have an answer regarding the carafe, I'll have to replace the unit. I grind my own beans, some of which are on the "pricey" side. I'm wasting money by having to throw out brewed coffee as it's too cool to be satisfying. Also, I refuse to microwave it and feel this is a solution that's completely inappropriate! I bought this unit as non-thermals ultimately burn the coffee. In short, if the thermal carafe doesn't do the job, I paid a significant amount of money for a coffeemaker that doesn't suit my needs!
