Strengths: Picture quality, price, looks nice
Weaknesses: ATSC tuner
Summary: The Vizio produces very nice pictures from all sources that I have tried. The HD is great when it works, but when it moves quickly, the tuner seems to have a problem. When the camera isn't panning, it is a clear picture. I was planning on waiting two months until I move to get HD from my cable company and use the over the air tuner, but that doesn't seem to work all that well. I have my computer hooked up to it at it's native resolution and the image is crystal clear. I also have an XBOX 360 hooked up to it and I'm having it display in 720p and it looks amazing. Overall I'm very happy with the purchase.

Strengths: Very good buy for the price, good out of the box experience, easy to set up, very good HD picture quality,
Weaknesses: Crowded manual, unlighted remote control. Standard tv picture quality seems to vary depending on show/channel.
Summary: Out of box experience was excellent! Took the box into our bedroom, took the LCD tv out, hooked it to our DVR cable box and that was it, watching tv in a few minutes. I did not have to adjust anything. Although in the side by side comparison in the store this Vizio didn't seem to have the best picture, at home, with nothing to compare side by side, HD programs look amazing. I basically can't tell what I'm missing because it just looks great. So far I'm very satisfied with my purchase.

One thing to note is that the power cord is a three-pronged cord so I could not hook power to the cable box directly (cable box only takes two-pronged power cords). Not a big deal and this is probably the same for all large LCD tv's.

Remote control is easy to use although not lighted. You need some dim light to be able to see what button you want to press in the dark.

When you first power up this LCD from being off all night, in the first few seconds you can barely hear a couple of popping sounds. Same thing when you power off. I believe this is from the change in temp going from cold to hot or viceversa. Barely noticeable.

Control/setup menu is relatively simple if you've played with any other tv picture and sound setup before.

User's manual is a little too crowded with words but the descriptions are straightforward.

Overall I'm extremely well satisfied with my purchase. For the price paid this is a great product.

Strengths: Picture quality, price, inputs, setup,
Weaknesses: Remote and mounting holes distance and couldn't find it in a black color around the speakers.
Summary: Purchased early Jan. 2007

First the Negatives: The remote is what I call a left handed remote. Channel up/down is on the left and the volume on the right. No biggie, it's just odd from all the other remotes I've had and I invariably hit the volume virtually every time I pick up the remote to change channels. Numbers at the top rather than at the bottom like all my other remotes including TIVO. My remote is backlighted unlike other reviews I've seen. Pip does not work for cable input only.

The mounting holes are about 20 inches appart so most of your cheap mounting brackets won't work. I accidentally got a Peerless mount over the net with a google discount for $26 that was too small and rather than send it back I just cut it in half with a scroll saw and mounted both pieces on studs with a 3 inch gap. Works fine since the Vizio 37" is only around 40lbs.

For the Positives. Ours is mounted in our study with cable analog input (without cable box) so it's not HD and the picture is great in standard def. We have other larger flat screens for the real HD media experience so this is mostly something to watch while working and playing on the computer. CNN in HD, Who cares...

Works great as a computer monitor as well as output from our non HD-DVD player and VCR in that room. Crisp pictures from all the inputs I've used. Price was great at our local Costco but I didn't see it available at online Costco. Others have reported large power-on startup times but I don't see that with mine. Probably 5 seconds for picture on.

Setup was a snap. First time you turn it on it walks you through everything even recognizing what the input source was. 4 or 5 screen formats that can be set from the remote. Overall a great TV that I would recommend.

Strengths: Excellent color accuracy, Deep uniform black levels, sharp clean crisp HD(720p) picture via component and HDMI, and of course PRICE!.
Weaknesses: Sound quality, limit/lacking features
Summary: Selling for $999.99 to-date the Vizio L37HDTV10a is the best budget TV on the market, it has surprizingly well picture quality for a low-end Tv. Its strongest features without a doubt are its deep black levels which remain surprizingly uniform and consistant throughout the screen. Its color accuracy is excellent surpassing some of the high end models, in other words excellent color decoding with strong greens and ZERO red push, skin colors never looked so good.

its worst features without a doubt has to be its audio, it has 2x 10watt speakers that are suitable and work "OK" but its almost a must to upgrade to a surround sound. Its other weakness is its lack of features, this TV only has PIP/POP.. THATS IT! along with the standard aspect-ratio-modes, Stretch(fill,16:9), normal(4:3,blackside bars), zoom(1/2,2x) and panoramic(smart stretch) which panoramic is only available for S-video and composite inputs and backlight adjustments, HD via HDMI, component and DTV however CAN utilize all other ratio modes unlike for example the sharp aquos which limits HD signals to stretch only.

The tv offer no other features!, no color temperture(only for VGA input) only 3 picture pre-set modes(vivid 1-3 plus "User/custom"), no noise reduction(DNR), no option for 3:2 pulldown etc..etc.. ALTHOUGH according to the website all these features a automatcially built into the TV...it does offer "surround sound" for its audio and it has about 4 pre-set audio enhancers like "Hall" and "Concert" but these didnt sound to good, its bass and treble can also be adjusted but hardly worth it, upping the bass does nothing but make it vibrate.

Its viewing angles i must say are just slightly below average compare to some of todays top end models. However a neat "feature", if thats whats its called, is that the screen is "Hard Coated" so when touching the LCD screen on the Vizio L37 it does not alter its color like LCD monitors or the sharp aqous, one needs to push HARD on the screen in order to see the "watercolor" effect, this i a bonus especially if you have little kids that always like to touch the tv screens.

In terms of style I found it very pleasing to look at, it has black and silver along the boarder with black surrounding the screen so it should fit into any living room compare to some TV's which are all silver or all black. The stand is also already attached for you so the TV literally is READY RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX with zero assembly.

The remote does not have backlights however vizio does offer a remote with backlight keys on their website, i found the remote to be your typical remote, it allows you to do anything and everything you need from changing channels, volume, aspect-modes, inputs etc.. it feels light and the angle is not that wide(one needs to be almost directly in front of the TV)

So compareing its strongest features, with its minor flaws at a price thats almost impossible to beat, the Vizio is certainly a winner in my book! this could be the the PICTURE TV!! if it only didnt have those minor flaws and maybe a few more features, a extra HDMI input would have been nice also but then again people that are buying this budget Tv wont probably need a second HDMI input anyway.

Strengths: BEAUTIFUL, PRICE IS RIGHT, CLEAR PICTURE, AND GREAT INSTRUCTIONS!
Weaknesses: IT TAKES A WHILE(ABOUT 30-45 SECOND DELAY) TO TURN ON AND OFF THE TELEVISION.
Summary: The sleek design and great price attracted me to this TV. After plenty of research I believe that I found the perfect TV for my family. My only complaint so far is that after I hit the power button, whether on the remote or the actual television, it takes about 30-45 seconds for the screen to turn on. The picture is great and I am really happy with the product.

Strengths: nice design, good video quality
Weaknesses: video settings are not easy to adjust, picture not that great with standard tv signal (needs adjustment), remote and user interface lacking
Summary: Overall I like the tv/monitor, I do not get HD signal so I can comment on that but it if it is anything like the quality I get when I hook my computer to the lcd it should be great. Standard tv looks good, a little better than regular tv but no where near the quality of hd (but that goes without saying), so reg signal is watchable in my opinion (have to adjust colors and video settings, else the colors are pretty bad and really blurry). Games and media center setup to watch movies is superb in my opinion colors are very nice, I can't get enough of watching things on the computer it makes it so much better. overall great monitor/tv, I use it for tv and computer, i can put up with no hd signal because I can't afford it but the quality of games and computer watching does it for me.

1 Star ReviewForget this TV if you want digital 5.1 output
Strengths: Price.
Weaknesses: 2 of them died in a few days. Blue screens when switching inputs. Random power-offs. No 5.1 output.
Summary: Bought three of this TV and returned all three (fortunately to a local store). This happened in March, Vizio may have fixed some of the problems with firmware updates.

Most people in avs forums have the same problems as I had:

1-Random power offs. My first two units had this. And after some time, both of them never turned on.

2-Blue screens when switching inputs (just like Windows). Sometimes I struggled for 10-15 minutes to get rid of this.

3-Digital audio output is stereo, not 5.1. Interestingly 32" and 42" vizio models have 5.1 output. But this one does not.

Overall, I would not reccommend this TV despite the low price.

Strengths: Good picure, easy setup, intuitive menu structure.
Weaknesses: Audio volume is too weak for a large room.
Summary: I wanted to go cheap since this unit was for a three season room. After purchasing this unit, I wish I would have gone cheap for my main family room HDTV. This HDTV works great. Easy hookup and setup. I experienced none of the problems that I read in the earlier reviews. I had this TV initially hooked up directly to Digital Cable and the picture was good. The cable company then installed the HD and WOW, great picture!

I could not get the HDMI input to work, but I suspect the cable box.

1 Star ReviewLow quality and poor customer support
Strengths: Cheap price. Costco's return policy let's you get rid of the lemon quickly
Weaknesses: Mediocre picture quality, lots of "weird" problems, awful customer service with limited weekend hours.
Summary: We bought one at Costco. The price was amazing. For the price the picture quality was definitely good enough. However, it kept acting "buggy" as if it were a computer with a virus. First, the pciture kept zooming in and out. This would be fixed by unplugging the power cord every couple days. Next, it kept hanging up when trying to auto scan cable or aerial signals. Finally, it refused to change channels from the remote or from the side of the TV's buttons.

When I returned it to Costco, the returns was easy and the lady was refreshingly honest (especially compared to the illogical and incompetent Vizio customer service reps I had to endure on 5 different calls). In short, she said the Vizios were an unusually high return item and that the reasons for returns were "weird" and "diverse." She meant that all sorts of things go wrong with these TVs.

This company won't be around for long. Warraties wil be needed, but will be worthless.

3 Star ReviewGood HD picture, not so great analog/digital cable
Strengths: Good HD picture
Weaknesses: not so great analog/digital cable
Summary: I got this from Costco for $1500 in March, the HD picture was great but digital cable/analog was a bit grainy, so I returned it and waited for prices to drop and just got a Westinghouse LVM-42w2 1080p LCD for $1500 from bestbuy (one day special) which is nice.
