Strengths: Fast. Solid build. Great storage capacity. Small footprint. Stylish. Retractable, which means no cap to lose!
Weaknesses: High retail price.
Summary: 2006-11-26 05:09:12 Simply put, this is the best flash drive I have ever used. I have used several flash drives in the past, and Sandisk's always stood out as high quality. The Cruzer Titanium is Sandisk's elite model, geared for professionals with critical needs.

First off, this flash drive is fast. I performed a few simple tests consisting of copying the same chunk of data to different flash drives. The Cruzer Titanium was, on average, about 2-3 times faster than the Cruzer Mini. That's a fast flash drive!

The "Liquid Metal" build is very solid. I've even heard stories of the flash drive performing normally after torture tests like being thrown against a wall or run over by a car. Admittedly, I've never done anything quite that harsh; but with a very well-built flash drive, I can simply toss it in my bag when I am on the go, knowing that it will hold up.

In the past, with smaller capacity flash drives, I limited my use to transporting files between computer. With 2gb of storage space, I began using this flash drive to actually store data on a more permanent basis. I can back up critical files to this flash drive with confidence; flash drives do not store data on moving parts (like hard drives do, for example), so the risk of mechanical failure resulting in data loss is much lower.

Another great aspect of the Cruzer Titanium is the small footprint. Since USB ports come in pairs, it's very easy for a USB device plugged into one port to physically block the other port; this problem effectively cutting your USB ports in half. However, as with most Sandisk flash drives, this isn't a problem. The flash drives are small enough so that it's not an issue.

The only real drawback of the Cruzer Titanium is the high retail price. As a full-time student, I don't have much spending money, so this flash drive seemed rather pricey. However, its reviews were good, so I decided to save up for it. I'm glad I did. It's turned out to be a very solid investment. I highly recommend it. I've never used a better flash drive.

Strengths: It's beautiful, tough and fast for a U3 enabled drive. The U3 features are easy to use and very handy.
Weaknesses: I bought it for my wife instead of myself.
Summary: I was already using the Cruzer Micro 2GB U3 Flash Drive and I loved it. I decided to splurge on my wife. It was hard to find the drive as even the manufacturer's sale site was out of it. My wife loves the drive and uses it every day. I am jealous because even though the two drives are similar her drive looks and feels so much better.

Strengths: Sleek looking; retractable USB connector; sturdy; nice-feel; five year warranty
Weaknesses: U3 software compatibility issues; poor customer support
Summary: 2006-08-24 14:31:33 This drive is sleek looking, and "feels good" in the hands & pocket! :-) It seems much sturdier than the Cruzer micro that I had (and have since given to my wife). It comes with a detachable metal clip & lanyard (kneck strap). It's on a keychain in my pocket, so I will see how well is keeps scratches away! The retractable USB connector is very nice. No caps to lose! This comes with a generous 5-year warranty (versus 2-years for the Cruzer Micro).

I upgraded from the 1GB version as I wanted to store more MP3's on it. I download MP3 tracks from my home computer to the stick, then bring it to work and play it on my computer there! I bring it home every couple of days, and download some new songs. Works great!

I have had nothing but problems with the U3 software. I was hoping that this cruzer titanium would work better than the plain cruzer micro that I had, but evidently not! It works fine on my laptop, but not at all on my desktop. The drive is recognized, and I can write/read files by treating it as a flash drive, but the U3 software does not run. Emails with SanDisk have only yielded form letter support, which includes a fresh install of windows xp!! Yeah, right. My best guess is that it's a compatibility issue with Nero 7, but I'm not about to uninstall that. They should fix this compatibility issue, as now I've paid too much for a U3 feature that I can't use! Besides, I have read on internet forums that there are other ways to get the U3 functionality (taking applications, favorites, email contacts, etc with you) without paying for it.

The main reason I went w/ the more expensive SanDisk was because of the U3 software. Looks like I should have gotten a cheaper drive. I will still give it 4-stars, as U3 was not the most important thing, and the drive itself is very sturdy and cool looking! And I like that this 2GB version is available for less than double a 1GB version.

Strengths: Pros:thoughtful design: good value for the capacity, sturdy + slim, and (best of all) no cap to lose or destroy
Weaknesses: none
Summary: I bought this because I needed:

1) a way to transfer files between Mac (my primary platform) + PC;

2) something tough enough to withstand crazy urban commutes + lots of road time, i.e. sinking to the bottom of my bag + risking being crushed all the time; and

3) in short, a micro-SUV.

And, to be honest, the smaller version got excellent reviews here on CNET, so that went in its favor.

Transferring files from the old Mac to this drive was no problem. But when I plugged it in to the new Mac (running on Tiger, BTW) or through a hub:

1) It would not mount on the desktop consistently.

2) Files that were created or modified on a Mac and saved on there could not open and were said to be unrecognizable. This includes all MS Office, Adobe, Finale, etc. The only way I could rescue them was to go to a PC and burn them to CDs (yes, it does seem to work fine for PCs).

3) The drive gets quite hot to the touch when running-- this may be typical, but I can't imagine it's a good thing.

In addition, SanDisk + affiliate tech support for this item is very limited (virtually nonexistent) for Mac users. All of the data recovery + security software included on the drive is for Windows only. If that's important to you, Mr./Ms. MacUser, you won't be able to do a thing with it. I would not recommend using this as your primary backup-- or at all, really. So (Mac users especially) try this if you must, but you'd be better off sparing yourself the headache

Strengths: Portable size, easy to carry. Retractable connector, no more cap lost. Fast speed, I copied 1GB movies in couple of minutes.
Weaknesses: The actual color is darker than it appeared on websites, and no metal shine. Annoying preloaded U3 programs, I removed it the next day.
Summary: I bought this USB drive simply because the retractable design, I hate to lost the cap on my previous SONY one. It even more better than I thought: the white slider only moves when a small amount pressure is applied. The slider is recessed into the casing of the drive, so that while it's easily accessible to the thumb, it cannot move accidentally when thrown into a bag. It also doubles as an activity LED.

The speed of transfer file is also very good. I copied 1GB movies in several minutes.

The preloaded U3 programs are useless for me, so I removed them to make it just works like an ordinary flash drive, you can download the U3-uninstall program at this website:

Strengths: Super fast, durable
Weaknesses: U3 software is a piece of crap
Summary: I used previous generation of 512 mb cruzer titanium for 2 years and did not have any problem. Last month I decided to upgrade it because I needed more storage. I bought this drive and really liked it. It is more smaller and faster than the previous version. I also liked the new design.

Only problem is the preinstalled U3 software. I think it is a piece of crap. I spent 2 hours to completely uninstall it.

I definitaly recommend this little drive.

Strengths: retractable USB head prevents cap loss, sleek smooth design, rugged, ease-of-use
Weaknesses: U3 can be a pain, however I got around it and uninstalled it,
Summary: This replaced a Lexar USB drive that I owned for many years till I decided to upgrade. And what better way than to go in for the 2GB version. SanDisk makes really good flash products and this one lives up to the reputation. The Titanium Cruzer is easy-to-use, stores all my data, makes transferring large chunks of data from my office laptop a breeze, and can even hold some decent-sized programs too. The Titanium exterior is plus though there are some complaints about static discharge. SanDisk offers a lifetime warranty on this and that really sealed the deal for me.

Strengths: High speed transfer rates, cool and sleek design, retractable USB interface, metal case is very protective
Weaknesses: none i can find, other than it is a little heavier than your standard flash drive
Summary: A great device, works perfectly and flawlessly with my XP machine. Quick transfer rates. And to top it off, it looks so cool. Indestructable too with the all titanium/metal casing. It does get a bit warm, but no big deal. Also you can use U3 software on this and it is big enough to actually do something like that without affecting your storage capacity.

Strengths: Ergonomic, fast and reliable
Weaknesses: None
Summary: 2006-08-28 20:21:13 I bought this drive mainly for the preinstalled U3 software. So far I am happy with it and U3. Since I have to work with several computers because of my job, this drive save lots of time.

Retractible feature is a great plus because you do not need to keep track of the caps for this drive like the competitive brands' flash drives.

In addition to U3, drive itself is very ergonomic and light. It transfers files very fast. Transferring 50 mb file took only 6 seconds. It is also reliable. I dropped it several times and nothing happened.

If you need a lot of space in a nice portable package the 2Gb cruzer titanium is for you. I use it to back up important files and for transferring files from one computer to another. This is a great device for keeping backups of files, especially on computers that do not have CD-RW drives, and for fast backups.

In order to prolong its life, always eject it or turn the blue light's off when you don't use it. If you use XP like me, to eject your drive just click the safely remove hardware located bottom right of thescreen. If you remove the drive without doing this, you may damage the drive or some of the data may be erased.

I highly recommend this flash drive.

Strengths: U3, retractable USB, very well build
Weaknesses: Cound be faster, considring there are 150x SD cards now
Summary: This is a great USB Flash drive. The 2GB is perfect for having both storage and all your U3 software without having to decide which one takes priority.

Works perfectly, and it is fast, it just could be faster given today's technology. But comapred to other flash drives, this is the best.

Strengths: very sturdy, USB connector snaps firmly into place when extending/retracting, very small size for it's capacity and casing strength, great transfer speeds
Weaknesses: casing scratches very easily, U3 problematic/annoying at times, poor results on Windows machines if not logged in with admin rights
Summary: I was happy with the capacity and design of this drive for the price. Ends up being 1.85GB usable space with formatting and U3 platform. Even though the drive is brand new and only recently available, all of the preloaded software was already way out of date and had to be updated (very tedious). Initial impression of U3 is that it is way more trouble than it is worth. Works OK on WinXP Pro machines, but have consistently had problems when trying to use with Win2000 SP4 and SanDisk readily admits it's useless on Macs. SanDisk tech support was courteous and helpful (and spoke very understandable English by tech support standards), though they readily admit U3 potentially conflicts with many software programs (eg MusicMatch, Nero, etc) and can be problematic to use all the features in Windows if the user is not logged in with admin rights.

In summary, excellent when using as a plain flash drive; problematic and annoying when trying to use with preloaded U3.

Strengths: Speed is really fast for uploading and downloading. It's really light to carry all the time.
Weaknesses: Titanuum looks like good the it seemsa like used one.
Summary: Really satisfying with the speed for uploading and downloading. It's really light to carry all the time and there's no cap to carry for the usb plug-in part. That means you don't think about loosing the top cap.

3 Star ReviewGood sturdy product, but kind of looks dirty and used.
Strengths: Tough design, snap-in usb tip, smaller than the previous version of titanium.
Weaknesses: Metal kind of looks rusty making it look like used and looks dull. Transfer (10 MB/s) speed not as advertised (15 MB/s).
Summary: I got a transfer rate of 10 MB/sec using HDTune2.5 benchmark software. It is not as fast as advertised. I also had a previous version titanium drive, and this new one is shorter by length than the old version. It is faster than the previous. The key ring is already attatched so I don't have to do that. The build quality looks perfect, even though it is made from China. However as I mentioned, the metal casing looks like it's been starting to rust a little. Not so shiny, and it looks like it's a used drive even though it's straight out of the packaging. The U3 software kind of has bugs. I tried to remove the drive in U3 by clicking eject, but wasn't able to. I might just format the drive and use it as I do not need the extras.

Strengths: Good write speed but not as fast as Lexar Lightning. Like the metal design with retractable tip as there is no cap to loose.
Weaknesses: Installed junk software U3, but this is a cinch to get rid of.
Summary: This is a pretty good device and for the price you can't beat the value. I had a Lexar Lightning prior to this, but the cap kept falling off and I finally lost the whole thing. This is a great replacement and a third the price.

Strengths: It is hard to notice the scratches this flash drive gets. It is very small which is a plus for me.
Weaknesses: The price is very high, but worth it if you can afford it.
Summary: I wanted to get a flash drive that would last me for a long time. I keep my flash drive on my key chain, so it's nice to have something that can take a beating. I hated to pay the price for it, but I shouldn't have to replace it for a long time.
