Strengths: Deep colors, Non reflective surface, Great value, Well thought out placement for connections, computer input connections, side Video 3 input
Weaknesses: Could have used additional standard inputs, Slight ghosting (?) from angles. Batteries for remote DOA
Summary: Got this TV for our parents to replace an old 27" floor console. Bought from Amazon on a clearance for $1199. I was surprised by the minimal, but effective packaging required when I opened the box. Styrofoam on the four corners cushion it effectively with a protective blanket covering.
Removing it was simple with one other peson. Not much else comes with the base unit other than instructions (English, French, Spanish covered in separate packages), power cord, and remote control. Thought remote was broke with the 2 AAA provided. Found out the batteries were just dead when I got 2 others.
Can detach the stand if you want to hang on wall. Haven't done it yet, but plan on it. I think it will be extremely nice looking between a couple of windows they have. Very little glare from angles compared to other HDTVs I looked at.
Since it can hang on wall, connection to back appear to have been well thought out. Does not have optical audio input, which was a bit of a surprise. Does have a couple of HDMI inputs.
Manual can be found at following hyperlink:

TV is pretty light weight at 70+ lbs.
Can hook up a computer to it, but need to get an analog VGS (15 pin) coputer cable and a PC audio cable. Looking forward to trying it out and maybe surfing the net.
Have noticed a bit of ghosting from angles and the colors will need to be tweaked with Digital Video Essentials NTSC that I plan to get from Netflix.
Overall, currently very happy with the TV. Huge, nice surprise for the folks.

Strengths: Color, ease of use, resolution
Weaknesses: none
Summary: This is my first plasma TV. Bought it on black friday from Sears for $1199. Great value. Fantastic looking TV. Beautiful sound, color and resolution, even at 720P. Well worth the money. Changing stations is slow, not like the old analog TV. I am not sure whether it is inherent in all plasma TVs. I love it.

Decent Plasma TV needs better HD features
Strengths: Watching DVD movies
Viewing from angles horizontally or vertically
Weaknesses: Limited use of High Definition channels
Higher power consumption
Summary: This TV is great for watching movies and other things on DVD. However, its use of High Definition channels is very limited. I was only able to recieve 2 HD channels via antenna (my neighbor can pick up 11 on his Sony LCD). Of the 2 channels I was able to pick up, one of them was cut off at the sides (no wide screen adjustment available). Again not an issue on my neighbor's TV. This is very disappointing, either you only pick up 2 HD channels or upgrade to very expensive digital cable. Another issue was the time delay when changing channels. Finally, the power consumption on this TV is rated 50% higher than the LCD TV. Based on these issues, I would not purchase this TV again.

Strengths: Design is superb. Dual HDMI inputs. Sharp and crisp images especially on HD content and DVD viewing. PC Input.
Weaknesses: No PIP, Split screen features. Less features than its predecessor.
Summary: I recently purchase this TV on a online discounter and got a good deal with it. I would grade it an 8 out of 10 coz it basically suits everything that I needed though there are some missing features. Been comparing it to a Panasonic or Philips brand, but decided to go for this coz of price, review and reliability. First, I just love the design. Black frame with Silver lining, it makes the TV looks so elegant and classy compared to a TV that is all black or all silver. TV stand looks better than the last model, prongs style is very sturdy and flat which I like. PC input is one great feature on this TV though for other users who only wants to view picture or listen to music instantaneously, its better if they've added a memory card slot or USB drive slot that other manufacturer offers. Nevertheless, PC input is still the best coz you can use your TV as a monitor. Once channels were programmed, it immediately looked up standard and HD channels even though my location only offers analog cable it still did find more than 10 HD channels. I would still have to buy an antenna to test if it could retrieve a lot of HD channels. SD signal is "OK" but HD is awesome, it looks very clear though the TV only broadcasts in 480p or 480i. I also was hoping that the TV has two separate coax inputs for NTSC and ATSC signals like other brands have. DVD viewing is another story, its the best i've ever seen. I am using a player with HDMI function and you can view up to 1080p resolution. The picture is awesome. Overall, though the Toshiba 42hp66 lacks some festures. It does compensate on the sharper contrast ratio and elegant design. I love it.

Strengths: NICE LOOKING, GOOD SPEAKERS, EASY TO USE REMOTE
Weaknesses: NO COMPONENT OUTPUTS, NO HDMI OUTPUTS, MORE INFO ON CONNECTING TO AMP OR RECEIVER. REMOTE NOT LIGHTED, PERIOD.
Summary: 2006-08-10 01:01:45 I BOUGHT THIS BECAUSE I THOUGHT I WOULD GET A QUALITY BUILT TV ON A PAR WITH OTHER PLAZMAS FROM SONY, HITACHI AND PANASONIC EVEN SAMSUNG. ONLY TIME WILL TELL. FOUND IT ODD THAT THIS PLASMA DID HAVE HDMI OR COMPONENT OUTPUTS IN CASE YOU SIMPLY WANTED TO WATCH WITHOUT HAVING TO GO THROUGH A RECEIVER. THE INPUTS ON THE BACK WERE POORLY LAID OUT AND CONFUSING. THE TV SETUP COULD HAVE BEEN BETTER. Just got hooked-up with HD-TV SERVICE....THE PICTURE IS FANTASTIC...BETTER THAN ANY DVD....VIEWING HBO SHOTIME BOXING AT 1080i...highly recommended

Strengths: Stunning color display on HD
Weaknesses: Ticker symbol does not scroll smoothly
Summary: I have purchased this plasma TV from BuyDig.com. As opposed to my concerns or nervousness, mail order went smoothly overall. In a week, I have received the TV. I would go back to buydig.com for next purchase.
Price was very good and still beats the normal retail
price by $600.
The only glitches I have found so far is ticker symbols you see normally on CNBC do not scroll smoothly and I have
some stationary pixels displayed in green, red and other color. I am contacting Toshiba Service to resolve this issue.

Strengths: beautiful picture, awesome HDTV, price
Weaknesses: NA
Summary: This was purchased as a gift for my husband and it was an excellent buy (especially for the money). We are very happy with the picture and speakers. I should state that it is our 1st plasma TV, so I'm not very well versed with plasmas. The remote control has been very easy to use. We have verizon FIOS service, so we weren't sure how it would be (since FIOS is relatively new and I didn't know anyone else personally to ask about it). But luckily, since we have FIOS with a DVR, HDTV is included with our service (at no additional charge). The only thing we had to figure out on our own (because we were afraid to mess with the TV much) was how to detach the base from the TV (since we were wall mounting it). This information is NOT included in the owner's manual and I've read other internet postings having the same difficulty (the screws which need to be removed to do this are on the BACK of the TV towards the bottom, not on the base of the TV), but maybe others with more experience with Plasma TVs would already know this.

Strengths: Picture is excellent as we watch essentially non-stop sports Sat & Sun. DVD in HDMI is perfect.
Weaknesses: Dish does not have the HDMI sorted out and waiting for a fix, it is still running perfect, just would prefer to use HDMI. Will be adding twin ceiling mount speakers for added audio.
Summary: We looked at essentially every model plasma and lcd and we (son & I) picked the Toshiba every time. We put tape over the names to see how consistent we were after looking at over 50 TV's. Toshiba 42 & 50 came up EVERY time. Purchased from on-line partner of Amazon.com with extended warranty. Delivered and put in the location desired within days at a savings of almost $800 from local retailer.
