Strengths: Good audio/video quality. Flexibility. Built-in power.
Weaknesses: Nav unit takes some time to master. Nav DVD needs updating. Touchscreen fingerprints too easily.
Pricy.
Summary: 2006-09-13 04:20:56 I purchased this unit based on the Eclipse name. I also
looked at Alpine & Pioneer units, but this one had all the
features I wanted & more. I love this unit's built-in power (15 watts RMS X 4!) and you will too. It will easily
drive your speakers and you will not be disappointed. The
unit has several DSP settings along with "Circle Surround"
which sounds excellent with action DVD's and some CD's.
It also has two DVD slots, this allows you to watch DVD's
or listen to CD's in the top slot while the Nav disc stays
in the bottom slot. You can just switch between the slots
without having to remove the discs. I am a little disappointed with the Nav disc as it is not very current.
It doesn't show some streets in my subdvision which have
been on the map for 5+ years! Hopefully Eclipse will address this problem with their new generation discs.
I wish now I had added the Sirius tuner but I will be
doing so in the future. By the way, this unit also has
hookups for a TV tuner, Hi-def radio, & Ipod adapter!
Get ready for plenty of listening options!
All in all, a great unit!
